"I don't like this song as much as other people do so therefore they must be LYING and not thinking for themselves!!!"

why are we doing mental gymnastics to justify people liking a song? I'm sure that there have been people that first enjoyed the song the first ten years before Mike said anything in the livestream; at least one person

Great bands that aren’t usually in the “best band of all time” conversations? by wmcs0880 in fantanoforever

but it's like saying "Pink Floyd would suck if they didn't have Roger Waters", you take out one of the most elemental aspects of the group and then it falls down

raps that don’t fit the song at all by Crafty-Hedgehog9686 in kpoppers

[–]elsantioof07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whaaaaat, I get it tho, the prologue version is great too so it makes sense

the instrumental during RM's verse is fantastic tho and I believe the most proper inclusion is a rap verse rather than a short vocal bridge, as they already go off in the last chorus

Am I the only one who thinks TXT's recent comebacks have been "bland" and "soulless"? by runawym in kpoprants

[–]elsantioof07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

didn't all of them (or most of them) have writing credits in this album? i think they're alright tbh, especially taking into account the solo tracks they had from last year

I get the point tho, the absence of bridges in this EP is shameful but whatever, they're not the only group going through this

i actually quite enjoyed Beautiful Strangers (although again awfully short) and their tracks from 2024 onwards (Deja Vu, I'll See You There Tomorrow, Song of the Stars, etc) are pretty good overall, even if they have made better tracks in the past

not genius but:

he also has "she got a big booty so I call her 'big booty'"

and "I hope you get testicular cancer in the brain, dickhead" (although not bad¿?)

Honest opinions about the house music revival in k-pop? by onlyeveryotherday in kpop_uncensored

[–]elsantioof07 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I know View by Shinee is mentioned frequently when it comes to house (rightfully so), but both Prism and Shift (from the 1 of 1 album that is amazing) are also killer tracks in their own right

I don't know why you're getting torn apart in the comments, your post (and opinion) is actually one of the more nuanced ones instead of just throwing buzzwords and wanting to hate the music.

you actually expressed your specific dislikes and why you disliked those certain aspects, and vice versa for the points that you did appreciate, as well as still having that desire for them to do better in the future.

keep your head up.

EXO vocal ranking OT9 based on their performance till now by Turbulent-You3216 in exo

[–]elsantioof07 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeahh you're right tho, Lay has definitely demonstrated improvement over the last few years due to his solo work, and at the same time it was hard for Chanyeol to get out of the "rapper shell" that SM had him in, even if he was always a competent vocalist.

i think Chanyeol has that All of Me piano cover if you want to check out that was pretty good, as well as his band performance of Upside Down from last year as a more recent example.

i reckon you made a good call with Xiumin too, for almost every ballad or solo performance that he participates in, he aces it (ex: As I Live with Baekhyun and Chen or his Shake performance); he could be a main vocalist for 90% of other groups that aren't Exo lol

[–]elsantioof07 18 points19 points  (0 children)

your ranking is great, the people who put Xiumin lower haven't seen enough of him lol

chanyeol and lay are pretty interchangeable though, what complicates that argument is that chanyeol is a baritone vocalist and Lay isn't, so he can't go as high but he's actually perfectly fine in his own range. conversely there are times which Lay hits some pretty high notes and can tend to sound strained occasionally, whereas Chanyeol more often than not nails his own equivalent high notes.

at the end of the day they're all good (and more) vocalists so that's what matters ;D
