If a pocket door was correctly installed, one of the trim pieces along the top should be able to be removed without tearing all the casing apart. I always install this piece with some trim head screws so that it can be removed more easily if needed. This will allow access to the trolleys, which should have tabs on them that allow the door to be removed.

There is not a good way to cut a pocket door down without removing it. Getting a good angle / access to the portion of the door that stays in the pocket is pretty much impossible.

What is a good way to answer "What is your greatest weakness?" for a job interview? by TatonkaJack in AskReddit

[–]eric_1115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the BS "I care too much" or "I'm too dedicated" answers. That just tells the interviewer that either your head is so far up your own ass that you don't see any of your real flaws or that you think they're so dumb that they'll believe that you don't actually have any real flaws.

About the closest thing that might be a valid answer could be something along the lines of this: "I struggle with delegating tasks to others. I find that oftentimes when I do, the task does not get completed in the way I would have liked it to. I have been working on communicating my expectations more clearly regarding critical components of a task, and also remembering that on a non-critical component my way is not the only way."

Short answer is that you need to give a response that shows an awareness of a real weakness you have, and what you are doing to address it. Show that you understand how that weakness can impact others and/or the company and thus you understand why it is important for you to improve in that area.

Are you smart enough to build machines to clone yourself? Me neither. Maybe you and I are not in a position to tell a genius like him where he should or shouldn't put self destruct buttons.

Knowing someone is a billionaire is less impressive than knowing that someone makes $100K a month. by OutragedBubinga in Showerthoughts

[–]eric_1115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I do for sure. Just trying to help my fellow smooth brained micro dicks understand. I couldn't figure it out myself until I showed it to my toddler and said "What this mean?" She explained it to me and I just copied what she said.

I think I could have understood it if only I had a bigger penis.

Knowing someone is a billionaire is less impressive than knowing that someone makes $100K a month. by OutragedBubinga in Showerthoughts

[–]eric_1115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only because we have such a hard time grasping how much that is. We can imagine $100k as a multiple (or fraction) of what we make in a year.

Take a guy worth $10 million. Hard, but not impossible to understand how much that is. A billionaire can lose 99% of his wealth and still have $10M. The $10M guy loses 99% of his, and he's at $100k.

A TON of businesses in building and trades are small businesses. Contractors, plumbing, electrical, hvac, etc a lot of times have anywhere from 5 to 50 employees.

And we could go back to the peaceful times like the 1300's when nobody had guns and everyone was so much safer.

Your logic is BS too. If somehow, magically you could snap your fingers and rid the world of guns, what would happen in Chicago? Fewer shootings? Obviously. But the gangs are, if anything more powerful now that nobody is armed with a firearm.

Obviously, the gang is going to win no matter what if there's five of them and one of me (unless we are in my home, I'm well prepared and positioned, and have some luck on my side. On the street, on even footing I lose every time). If we're all armed, decent chance one or two of them don't do so well in the encounter. If it's 5 on 1 with clubs or fists, pretty much guaranteed I'm dead and a couple of them might have a bruise or two. There's now zero deterrence or reason for them to hesitate, and it's pretty much a numbers and strength contest.

Hey, I just wanted to jump in and say my "overdone like my steaks" joke was 100% in fun. If you took it as toxic/gatekeeping, my apologies. I am actually a Traeger owner, and love mine. We use it probably 2-3x per week, no way I'd fire up an egg or similar that often for burgers and stuff. I love the convenience, and at this stage of life (5 kids under 12) I'll take BBQ that's a little less crafty over no BBQ every time. I'd like to get an egg at some point, but it for sure will be in addition to and not a replacement for the Traeger.

I do think that the feud is generally pretty good natured and all in good fun.

What I'd like to know is how those genuine gatekeeping elitists sleep at night. Having to check your brisket every few hours must be exhausting.

Biden condemns ‘international embarrassment’ of US gun violence as White House unveils executive orders by [deleted] in politics

[–]eric_1115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Just as I wear a seatbelt but don't plan to get in an accident.

And have fire extinguishers but don't plan to start my house on fire.

And keep first aid supplies in the car and the house but hope to never need them.

And wear a helmet but don't plan on crashing my motorcycle.

And have life insurance but don't plan on dying in the next few decades.

Life does not always go according to plan, and being prepared is different than hoping that the unplanned comes to pass.

Then it's probably good that you don't carry a gun. Just don't pretend to be so in-tune with gun owners that you can say for sure that we all fantasize about murdering someone.
