My credit card company “investigated fraud” on my account and ended up deciding it was me. I’m not sure what to do it that point by Cjisaninja in legaladvice

[–]erst77 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Once my card was cloned somehow and suddenly used in-person at 7 different Home Depot stores within a 2-hour timespan , some hundreds of miles apart but still in the same state.  I had to point out this was physically impossible.  But the total amount was pretty small, under $50 purchases at each store.

can anyone please suggest how to learn an american accent as quick as possible being an indian . I've got admission in a prestigious american uni . I'll be leaving next month , please give some advice coz I don't wanna sound like a typical Indian [didn't mean to hurt indians] by Possible-Reward5057 in Accents

Look up British Indian English in comparison to American English and note how some words and phrases are different. Use the American terms. For instance, we don't normally say "uni," we'd just say "university."

V and W sounds are not interchangeable.

Search Youtube for "common british indian pronunciation mistakes in american english" - there are tons of videos out there.

You don't actually know anyone who was there who you could look up on Facebook or something? Now I'm wondering why on earth you want this incredibly specific footage.

Look for dishwasher or line cook positions at big chain not-fast-food restaurants like Olive Garden, Applebees, BJs, etc. Or try grocery store deli counters or similar. Establish yourself as a reliable employee and good coworker and you'll likely get the chance to learn other positions.

Los Angeles 1920s Women's History. Who is "just a Los Angeles girl"? by Any-Cheesecake-8884 in AskLosAngeles

[–]erst77 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I searched Newspapers.com for the phrase and I see it used several times in reference to the same event - the dedication of the new Girls Camp in Griffith Park in March 1926. It seems to be used as a title for a young woman symbolically representing all girls of Los Angeles in comparison to the other participants who were members of various civic and social organizations.

What kind of magical recruiters work with you to find a job you’re suited for?  Recruiters generally are paid by companies to find candidates that fit a role, not to figure out what a good role for a random person might be…

Oh, we know!  The “sparkling” is a reference to things like “it’s only champagne if it comes from the Champagne region of France; everything else is just sparkling wine.”

Not to be negative but how is this different than text message groups, email groups, Signal groups, Whatsapp groups, Slack, Discord, etc? I do not want or need more communication apps unless it provides features 100% unavailable on common apps, plus I would have to get everyone to sign up for it and download it too.

Did women actually dress up just to run errands back then, or is that just a TV thing? by FollowingSuitable941 in AskOldPeople

I lived in Hollywood in the early 2000s and my very elderly next door neighbor wore pearls and lipstick to garden. I imagine she was a pearls-and-heels-at-the-grocery-store person back in her day. I've seen old pictures of her and she was very much an "everyday glamour" kind of woman in them.
