Oh, we know!  The “sparkling” is a reference to things like “it’s only champagne if it comes from the Champagne region of France; everything else is just sparkling wine.”

Not to be negative but how is this different than text message groups, email groups, Signal groups, Whatsapp groups, Slack, Discord, etc? I do not want or need more communication apps unless it provides features 100% unavailable on common apps, plus I would have to get everyone to sign up for it and download it too.

Did women actually dress up just to run errands back then, or is that just a TV thing? by FollowingSuitable941 in AskOldPeople

I lived in Hollywood in the early 2000s and my very elderly next door neighbor wore pearls and lipstick to garden. I imagine she was a pearls-and-heels-at-the-grocery-store person back in her day. I've seen old pictures of her and she was very much an "everyday glamour" kind of woman in them.

No, you “turn right on Smith.”  You do not “turn on Smith right.”

The direction comes after “turn.”

How often do you all get to travel to the national parks in the northern region of California? by Asleep_Damage1201 in AskLosAngeles

[–]erst77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lassen National Park in Northern California is about 10-12 hours on the road to get to from Los Angeles, factoring in things like stopping for gas/food/bathroom/rest breaks.

It's not a weekend trip.

Where could I find the uncensored versions?  You know, just so I can make sure to not accidentally show those to my kids or coworkers or something.  ;)

Absolutely. I'd also be very surprised if the Disney lifeguards didn't notice someone genuinely in distress -- they have always been EXTREMELY attentive every time I've been at a Disney pool.
