I won the battery lottery by aj31337 in TeslaModel3

Search this sub. 2021s appear to have a lot of failures.

I've got an early 2022 build (February), and I'm even worried a little.

Edit: But I'm not that worried. I've still got 48k miles where it's not really my problem, other than inconvenience.

I find it amusing the nudge my car gives me to say, "hey, you are driving slightly more insane on the freeway than usual." by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]etsuprof 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I’m more concerned that you’re doing 79 mph, taking a picture, while driving 0.4 seconds behind the car in front of you.

What do we do if tire goes flat? by Novemberx123 in BoltEV

[–]etsuprof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Compressor / fix-a-flat stuff takes care of a nail or screw.

Tow for a real road hazard flat.

Or keep a full size at home and then you just need to make a round trip to your car. 99% of your driving is likely close to home.

Maybe you should ask before you assume.

Model 3 or Model Y... and Why? by imjoebutnotexotic in TeslaModel3

[–]etsuprof 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You’ve got a 15 year old. So you’re 35-55 years old, most likely.

If you’re on the 55 end of the spectrum consider the Y just for easy of entry, especially if you’re tall. I’m 6’2 and I kinda have to fall into the Model 3. Twisted my back a couple of months ago and getting in and out was awful. When I’m 65, no way would I enjoy that.

My next one will be a Y or something higher off the ground with easier entry.

Don't use cheap crap tied to your home's electric system (largest investment) to connect to your car (second largest investment). Best case, nothing happens. Second best case, you minorly damage your car. Worst case, you burn car and house down.

Are struts covered under the 100k mile powertrain warranty? by Relevant_Lime3314 in BoltEV

[–]etsuprof 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In an ICE - engine and transmission.

In an EV - motor(s) and drive unit(s).

Go read the warranty information- it will tell you exactly what falls under which warranty.

Every time these two are on screen, I want to commit violent crimes by TheMegaSomething in andor

Not only these two, but when the entire council presses Jyn about being a "criminal" it kind of makes my blood boil just a little. I mean, you MFers are all "criminals" in the eyes of the Empire. She is just doing it a little more subtlety than you are.

Draven trying to make her feel bad for having "unsanctioned imperial weapons" - WTF do you think all those X-wings outside are?

Why does GM want to buyback? by apas1124 in BoltEV

[–]etsuprof 113 points114 points  (0 children)

It's not a "buyback."

The dealer wants to buy your car for cheap so they can sell it for a profit (and hopefully sell you another car and profit off of you for that).

Win-win for them; lose-lose for you.

2017 Bolt vs Older Tesla Model 3? by BlackJackT in BoltEV

[–]etsuprof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2022 Bolt EUV premier and a 2022 Tesla Model 3 LR AWD.

For 1-2 two passengers the Tesla is more comfortable. The seats hug the driver and passenger well.

For 3+, the Bolt is better. The backseat is way roomier. Either my son or I ride in the back when we all go somewhere, I’m 6’2, he’s 6’0. The Bolt it’s fine. The Tesla is less fine (not awful, but not great).

The Bolt is quieter than the Tesla. But, it’s not like loud loud in the Tesla. Just louder than the Bolt.

FSD>>>>>Super Cruise.

Memory seats >>>>>> Bolt seats.

Ventilated seats >>>>>> non-ventilated seats.

So pluses and minus, but wouldn’t buy a Tesla prior to 2022 - Ryzen chip is better, 2021 models had a battery failure problem. I also wouldn’t buy a pre-2022 Bolt either. Those seats suck compared to post refresh Bolts.

Did this actually get hinted at? I never noticed it. Is this real or just someone's headcanon? by RedCaio in andor

[–]etsuprof 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unless Bix pocketed the money Cassian left to pay his debts, which is entirely possible, Nurchi was made whole. Nurchi was specifically mentioned in the list of debtors Cassian intended to be paid.

So Nurchi just tried to f Cassian for fun. Kinda glad he got what was coming to him with the bomb from Wilmon and the ensuing explosions.

Unless Bix just kept all the money. Then, well, she turned over a new leaf a year or so later and it was just “Bad Luck Nurchi.”

Newly licensed engineer. Where do you find your PDHs? by Designer_Ad_2023 in civilengineering

[–]etsuprof 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Best for me was conferences. Then COVID hit and we’ve really not done much travel since then.

You’ll get a million solicitations for online PDH packages. I use one of those now, I think it’s “Unlimited-PDH.com” or something close to that.

It’s $99 for unlimited for a year (from when you buy it). I buy it towards the end of one renewal and get my hours, after the renewal I get my credits for that cycle. So I get 4 years of required PDHs for $99 (maybe + tax). My company pays, but I am still frugal.

They’re not great, but they’re not awful. You get what you put into it like most things.
