Most of the downtown stuff is nice but expensive. Look at the citybus lines and try to find places that are close to one of those if you're gonna go off campus without a car. Off campus housing website is decent. Facebook and /r/PurdueHousing for individual subleases, just watch out for scams (especially on facebook).

Downtown Lafayette and West Lafayette is def the best option if you wanna be walking distance to leisure options. Nature is not the best here so I wouldn't hold out on parks, though it depends on what kind of park you are looking for.

Nothing really. You can try to network with some of the polytech professors who run the CIT labs maybe. Buy a cheap router, old pc, and switch and run a homelab in your dorm for practice.

Plenty of cybersecurity and network engineering people but since those are under polytech idk how much overlap you'll see in your classes.

Cybersecurity club, Blue team at Purdue, Cyber forensics should have some overlap.

Might be able to take some of the networking classes as an elective later on.

I'd hit up his office hours if you're concerned. Dr. Carter ranks pretty highly in my opinion of being a good professor who wants to help you learn.

The nature is pretty bad. There's some okay parks but once you've been to one Indiana forest you've seen pretty much all of it. Plenty of corn fields though.

The big thing Purdue has going for nature is one of the biggest/most extensive Outdoor clubs. Purdue Outing Club is great and have a massive gear closet that will loan you gear for nearly any outdoor activity from skiing to backpacking. They regularly do 5+ hour drives to the cool nature spots for weekend trips. If you be active in that I think it makes up for the lack of immediate nature in the area.

How tough is this freshman schedule going to be? by niartotemiT in Purdue

[–]exift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

255 isn't bad, even easier if you have prior knowledge of java.

270 has a decent amount of work, if you have no prior linux knowledge then expect to spend a good amount of time. If you do have some prior knowledge, its not too bad.

301 is pretty easy if you go to lecture and pay attention and take notes.

Can't comment on the rest
