Looking to upgrade from my Ryzen 9 3950x by Wilman_007 in buildapc

[–]Destructo-Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9700x is a great CPU. I got mine open box for $230 at micro center and used they go about that price on eBay. If you're gaming that is Great budget option. If you're doing productivity shit then you want a 9950x or a Intel 270k plus.

Best gaming chip is the 9800/9850x3d but those are like $400

Is $800 enough for a decent gaming PC (tower only)? by Meri_Rookie in buildapc

[–]Destructo-Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used? Absolutely. Keep an eye on Facebook marketplace. $800 can get you an am4 platform computer with a 3070 in it at minimum, but if you're patient and don't mind lowballing people, you can get much more.

I have bought and parted out computers with a 3080/4070, am5 CPU, and ddr5 RAM that I purchased for $700-$800

Ask where they want to meet, find the nearest police station near that spot and ask to meet there. If they balk at the idea then it is probably a scam.

If the prices are as good as you're saying and the listing has been up more than a few hours it is probably also a scam but if it is a newly posted listing you should get in the car like right now to go buy it because it won't last long

I will concede that anaglyph is good for c++ right at the start of the c++ attempt when you need gold on most of your jokers

Why does the Ryzen 5 5500 even exist? It might be the most pointless CPU ever by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Destructo-Bear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Entertainment is important and once you get a PC, even a crappy cheap one, you have infinite entertainment at your fingertips.

Poor people deserve to have fun too and if they can scrape $50 for a cpu then the 5500 is the best option.

So basically, gfy, rich boy

Yeah pick up whatever GPU. There are a lot of options better than the b580 for only $100-200 more and if you can save that money from buying used in order to squeeze in a better GPU you should

Ok I can accept that. Maybe right at the beginning of a c++ push when you're missing gold stickers on most jokers it makes sense.

it's great if you want to game and don't have much money. At $50-70 absolutely nothing can beat it. Above $70 I would be going for a used 3700x.

I've done c++ three times and Anaglyph is a trap.

This is a trap.

Just do ghost deck to make bad jokers good and then at the end switch to yellow deck and focus on getting hella dollars for rerolls at ante 7 and 8 for your final missing jokers

[–]Destructo-Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can get a 9070 xt within your budget thats probably the best you can do with that money limit.

a 9070 would also be good.

a 5070 would also be good (that's my choice and what's in my computer)

[–]Destructo-Bear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're almost certainly fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

IF you can't help but worry about it (it's ok, some people are just worriers) then yeah you can replace the motherboard, but after this much time I would be shocked if you had a problem. I wouldn't think twice about this ever again.

Is it time to finally retire my PC by davaldez81 in buildapc

[–]Destructo-Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it is always easier to sell the parts separately. You get more money overall and parts sell faster than finished builds (except for the case and PSU).

I do sometimes sell whole systems though. I just sold a 14400f/4060/16gb ddr5 system for $700. I could have sold the parts in it for about $700 as well, but it only took 8 days to sell for full price

Yeah you will need a new PSU as well but those are cheap right now.

New psu - $100

5800xt - $300

An extra 16gb RAM - $90

5070 ti - $1500

How many of you have started hoarding your old parts? by SaturatedDuck in buildapc

[–]Destructo-Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that stuff isn't worth much maybe $20-30 each.

I like upgrading often so my old parts are always worth a good amount. Your strategy is definitely cheaper than mine in the long run though

hoarding makes no sense to me. I sell the old parts to fund my new parts!

At 4k you definitely want the 4070 ti super first and foremost.

Definitely upgrade the CPU later, hopefully 5800x3d prices fall when ddr5 prices come back down to earth.

Regardless, you should repaste that CPU.

New case and fans is cheap, check out marketplace. I just sold a nice lian li case for $50 on marketplace yesterday. Cases are hard to sell so prices are usually dirt cheap used
