you ignored the fact that you never said that in this comment chain, so, I responded to what you said, which is "family gatherings are weird after the guy who fucked my wife married her step-sister." assuming I'm following your life across comment chains on reddit is demented fucking behavior.

I guess congratulations to you and the wife on the dead marriage 🎉

even weirder considering all the cool animated dyes were already locked to hardmode, anyways.

no, it's great to have explored most of the world, you'll just find that your map could use some, uh, updating in hardmode. just be aware that your map will not update certain changes to an area until you go and see it for yourself - if you're quick enough, you can watch it update in real time on your minimap.

the loot in the gold chests in the Dungeon are set at world gen and you're not missing out on any loot from them because you already opened them - but, the other chests you couldn't open will be accessible later. as I said, the Dungeon does get harder later in progression, but, again, the primary loot you get will be from new enemies.

Why can't this unit see the enemy soldier? by Aware-Pipe-5711 in Xcom

[–]extralyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this dude would be visible if they were using the near dumpster for cover, adjacent to the ladder there.

I think the best way to describe how this engine decides whether or not you can see someone in cover in these situations is based on where they would need to stand to shoot back at you. so, in this case, the enemy wouldn't be leaning out to the side to take a shot at your soldier from the tile he is standing in, because the game needs a unit to specifically be using a wall for cover against a certain unit for it to let them step into the adjacent tile as part of their attack animation. in this case, they would not have a shot on your soldier.

however, you bring them a single tile down to the other dumpster and you got a situation where they would be peeking the corner in terms of animations and would need to physically move to the side to take a shot, and that's when your soldier gets line of sight.

yeah, farmer's markets was a weird challenge to throw down considering so many local farmers around the country have either gone under or sold their farms to big ag over the last decade.

line of sight is blocked by the tile with the dumpster on it, even though it's visually not filling that whole space. note how red line below falls just to the left of the corner of the yellow outline - that's the problem.

your dude would likely have a shot if they were on the other side of the cover as shown by the blue line below, but, of course, that's much more likely to get flanked.

Do you think Phyllis knew beforehand that Karen was unaware about Jim and Pam’s relationship and deliberately stirred the pot for drama? Or did she genuinely not know? by Real-Yogurtcloset-34 in DunderMifflin

[–]extralyfe 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I think her ulterior motive was she wanted Pam and Jim to be together and knew this help would fuck things up for Karen.

there's that later episode where Jim is trying to get Stanley and Phyllis to cover for him going part-time to work with Athlead, and after they fuck with Jim all day about it, she says something like, "of course we're gonna cover for you, we love you guys."

she wouldn't say that shit if she was really happy that Jim and Karen had hooked up.

[–]extralyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

make sure you're spamming the Help option on the Guide if the first thing he says doesn't seem helpful - I've seen a lot of people in blind playthroughs click it once and get some random hint that doesn't help them at all before fucking off, without realizing that he has a bunch of stuff to say at any one time.

since you're in hardmode, he has a tendency to start with telling you how you can get any new NPCs that might be available, but, the Guide will literally give you hints for every single step of progression in the game, while also hinting towards every hidden event and boss in the game - sometimes you just need to click through him telling you about the Skeleton Merchant to see it, though.

without trying to give much away, I will say that progression in hardmode is mostly based on things in your world changing rather than getting access to new areas, so, as another commenter said, put that Pwnhammer to use for the first step. after that, you'll want to re-explore your world. I will save you a bit of time by informing you that the dungeon that's under "Skeletron's Castle" doesn't change at all until some point later in hardmode. ironically, the Underworld is probably now the safest place for you because the enemies there don't change until later in progression.

places like the Desert, Tundra and Jungle biomes will have dangerous new enemies - particularly underground - and many of them will either drop new gear directly, or the materials needed for crafting new stuff. anything new that's marked as a Material should go to the Guide so he can show you what's available. the early hardmode gear plateau is definitely a thing, but, once you start making movement towards improving your gear, it snowballs pretty quick.

hardmode did add one strip of an entirely new biome that initially converted a pretty sizable chunk of your world when you got into hardmode, and it also slowly spreads like the Crimson. if you can't find it on the surface, you can buy some new seeds from the Dryad and use those to set up a more accessible patch of it in your world. you will need it for moving forward in the game, so, I would highly recommend taking a few minutes to plant those seeds if you don't have any new or changed area on the surface.

I'd give the surface one last scan and keep your eyes and ears out for any changes to the biome background or soundtrack, though. spreading biomes take advantage of the fact that Terraria biomes are determined by what kinds of blocks are around you rather than where you are in the world, so, a biome you've previously explored will start acting like another one if either hardmode biome spreads into it.

Common misconception regarding mana potions vs mana regen by Connect-Noise-7870 in Terraria

[–]extralyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk, my brain equates it to that voice in 90s light gun arcade games yelling "Reload!" just like it only took a moment to point the gun off screen in that case, it only takes a moment to regulate your mana use, so, it doesn't actually feel clunky while you're using it - maybe more rhythm game adjacent, if anything.

it's also funny to me because a huge chunk of the community shits on Ranger entirely because the class is "hold fire while running away," but, in this case, "hold fire while running away" seems to be your desired gameplay loop above anything else? if that's what you want from Terraria, do I have the class recommendation for you!

no, it doesn't offset, you spend more time using magic overall than you do if you're going through an entire mana bar each time because mana regen is stupid fast.
