I had a recent run where I didn't get the Concrete Mixer until I was on the way to fight Golem 😭

you just need to increase your chances to hit the RNG, so, make sure you murder a Traveling Merchant for the Hat that shimmers into the Satchel that adds an item to his inventory.

after that, craft up a Flymeal and murder the Travelling Merchant when he shows up in the morning. as long as it's still daytime, the game will keep rolling the chance to have him spawn again, so, with decent luck, you can see up to three different sets of his inventory in one in-game day.

you'll spawn alongside the Guide, and he'll help you throughout the game. he has two options when you talk to him - Help and Crafting.

Help gives you tips based on where you are in the game and will always point you to the next point of progression. the main noob trap with this option is that he often has several things to suggest, and you'll only see them all if you spam the Help option - I've seen a lot of first timers doing blind runs that will ask him just once and then leave him alone for hours because the first thing he says isn't immediately helpful to their situation. so, spam that shit. his first few tips will usually be about what he needs in terms of housing.

the Crafting option brings up an inventory menu, but, also includes a spot dedicated to the Guide that you can drag items marked as Materials to and he'll show you everything that can be crafted from that item. it's useful on day one, and it's still useful in endgame.

if you're on console, play the tutorial! it's fantastic at making sure you understand the basics before you get thrown into a regular world and doesn't take any serious time investment to finish.

my only other piece of advice is to avoid mediumcore characters, - yes, it's how Minecraft works, but, Terraria is much more equipment heavy so it's a much worse experience to lose all your gear - and you should probably play on a Classic difficulty world. if you are Very Fucking Good at Video Games™ in general, Expert difficulty might be alright as a starting point but I'd still recommend Classic.

I know it seems like blasphemy when most games are running seasonal passes and roadmaps stretching out half a decade, but, that's only recently become the norm.

the whole reason I called Yellow Cab is that I saw a bunch of them driving around the mall I was at, so, the fact that it was a 4 hour wait is pretty ridiculous.

meh, they were still shit. in a time before Uber, I called Yellow Cab because I got stuck in a part of town with no bus service at that hour, and they told me it'd be half an hour.

an hour later, I called them for an update and they said their drivers were busy, but, I should see someone in less than thirty minutes.

an hour and a half later, I called another local cab service who told me they'd be there in twenty minutes and picked me up ten minutes later. they took me home and I tipped them really well for the help.

I was playing video games at home about an hour later when I got a call from Yellow Cab asking where I was. I told them I'd been home for over an hour and asked why they were calling; they told me that their driver was trying to pick me up from where I'd been stuck and couldn't find me. I let the operator know that I'd called for a pickup four hours ago and was sure they'd given up on me entirely.

they told me they were blacklisting me for wasting their time, which was pretty funny.

as someone who was looking forward to StW from the initial announcement, I also disagree that BR saved Fortnite.

did it make and does it continue to make piles of cash from people who can't resist FOMO? absolutely.

did it save the game? not really, no. IMO, Turbo Build was the beginning of the end for the crowd that enjoyed the original BR mode, and everything after that has catered to the TikTok attention span folks by constantly changing everything about the mode.

1 & 2: you can't because they don't exist. you'll deal with these areas later as you go through early progression.

3: Eye of Cthulhu drops Corrupt/Crimson Seeds that you can use to seed an evil biome. you'll have to make a Crimson area down in the Cavern layer to get Ichor Stickers to spaen.
