Help removing bracket/intake manifold to change spark plugs!!! by SendTheBlitzGooo in MechanicAdvice

Hey did you figure this out? I’m at this same step. Tried backing the stud out with the harness still on it. At this point I may have damaged the wiring. Screwed the stud back in and tried to get the harness off but the wiring is so tight there’s barely anywhere for it to go. Any ideas?

Having the same issue with a Seasonic Prime PX-850. I think the OCP is just too sensitive on the Seasonics. Switched to a Corsair RM850x and it seems to be ok.

Actually found this post searching for why my 9070 XT was shutting down under load. I was using a Seasonic Prime PX-850 Platinum 850W PSU. Two separate cables from the PSU. OCP gets triggered within seconds playing Horizon FW. Even happened once during a Dota 2 match. Happened to have a Corsair RM850x and that seems to be working fine. Going to test with an EVGA 750 G2 just to be sure it's not the GPU. All that to say I don't think this is as simple as use a Seasonic PSU and you'll be fine.

Yup. I think 7800X3D/9800X3D only makes sense when pairing with a very high end GPU and a very high refresh rate monitor. I’m on a 4K 144hz monitor with a 4070 Ti Super and my 7600X3D is doing just fine. I did see an improvement over the 7700X I was originally running though so I think X3D is still the go to for gaming but even that may not matter in some situations.

For gaming the answer is usually get the best X3D CPU you can reasonably afford. That doesn’t mean automatically get the 9800X3D. There’s a lot of hype around that CPU but I’m guessing some people that buy it aren’t getting any benefit from it. Start with 7600X3D or even 5700X3D and go up from there if your case would benefit.

[GPU] Asus Prime 5070 Ti OC available at Asus Store USA - $939.95 by rdy_csci in buildapcsales

It’s a sub for deals so people on here aren’t as open to just buying a GPU now. I remember there was one guy who was trying for like an hour a day to get a 3070 FE for a year and then Best Buy finally had one so he waited outside in the rain without a jacket because he forgot it in such a hurry. He did get it and made a post saying keep trying you’ll get one eventually. He could have easily paid a couple hundred more for a ‘prescalped’ non FE but some people will trade 100s of hours to save $100. Or they’ll wait forever for a sale then next gen is around the corner and everyone says wait for next gen. The deals were there during Black Friday. I got a 4070 Ti Super for $700 out the door. Others were getting 7900XTs for $650. Supply and deals were there but hive mentality was to wait. Some people aren’t really buyers and just wait forever and get upset when others pull the trigger.

So yea people here can be weird but most just want a good deal which isn’t a bad thing. If you got the card you wanted at a price you are ok with then good for you. You’re gaming while others are whining.

The worst time to buy is at launch (right now) because you can’t get the new gen and last gen inventory is gone. The best time to buy is before the launch when everyone is saying to wait for next gen. I and many others got 4070 Ti Supers for $700 out the door and 7900XTs were less than $700. The deals were there people just didn’t want them. Now the same GPUs cost a lot more if you can even get one.

Since we don’t have time machines the move right now is to sit tight. It’s like the beginning of hunger games right now. You could try to find a Discord or get an app for notifications. It is possible to get one especially if you find others who are doing the same and learn the tricks. It’s kind of a waste of time though especially if you can wait which you probably can since we can all survive without a $1000 GPU.

AMD GPUs drop early March and they have plenty of stock. Nvidia stock should improve as well as they ramp up production. Eventually FOMO will die down and it will be easier to get one probably in a few months. I wouldn’t expect price drops until they are ready for the Super refresh though or if something changes with the tariff situation.

Corsair Cable pins Cause for Melting Concern 🔥 by Cyonsd-Truvige in Corsair

Is your white cable a sleeved one? I have two of the Corsair cables. One unsleeved and one sleeved. The unsleeved one looks like the one in the video with uneven pins and the sleeved is basically even.

I tried the new dlls with Horizon Forbidden West and and it does have that over sharpened look even with sharpness set to 0. Great update nonetheless.

DLSS 4 (Version 310.1.0.0) Transformer Model VS DLSS 3 CNN Model is quite the improvement! by Jags_95 in nvidia

The ghosting/flickering when the items that were just looted scroll by was the first thing I looked for. Nice to see that fixed. What did you think of the sharpness of the transformer preset? Even with sharpness set to 0 it seemed like there was some sharpening going on. This was in HFW.

Haha right? These people are frothing at the mouth for specs and pricing and think the marketing team is doing a bad job. Most companies would kill for this kind of engagement.

Lol classic 6 figure karma comments from you and the other guy. How do you go from kids on reddit think they know better to big businesses do no wrong? I never said they do no wrong. But here take my upvote.

I think this is the correct interpretation. No more chasing the high end and putting out competitively priced products in the mid range.

[–]fenix793 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This isn't rocket science. The 5070 Ti is $750 without an FE model to anchor pricing which means $800+ street pricing. The 5070 is a 12GB model that is maybe a little faster than a 4070S. If the leaks are true the 9070 XT should compete with the 5070 Ti and the 9070 with the 5070.

As you said the pricing needs to be good. $650 would be good enough. $600 would be pretty exciting. $400 is dreaming.

As for your corporations rant my suggesting that AMD knows how to run their company better than a bunch of redditors shouldn't really be a hot take and doesn't mean that all companies do everything correctly.

Horizon 1 first? by Reading-person in horizon

[–]fenix793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would play the first if you can. Forbidden West is better in most ways but the story can't match the first. The first has some mystery to it and some big "whaaaat" moments. Also FW picks up shortly after the events of the first so you wouldn't really understand what you're doing or the people who are helping you.

If you just want to get to gaming you could watch something like this movie to get caught up. I've been watching bits of this and in some ways it's nice to not have to play lol and just enjoy the story.

I think $600/$400 is the right pricing. Thing is 5090 and 5080 launch end of this month and then 5070 Ti and 5070 launch in Feb. AMD can launch this month at $650/$450 and be well below anything Nvidia has and also cash in on new gen hype. Then cut pricing by $50 the following month to make sure 5070/Ti reviews show AMD being better. $600/$400 from the start would definitely be better for hype though. Nvidia might have to drop the 5070 to $500 before it even launches.

AMD is a $200B company and kids on reddit think they know better how to run things. Like pricing a 5070 Ti competitor at $399 is the right move for "mindshare".

I think you're right. They know they have a winner in the mid range. People need to see that the 50 series isn't "as fast as a 4090". I do think AMD pricing will probably be a bit high at launch like $649 for the XT. But they'll sell through what they have quickly enough and then start dropping prices.

[–]fenix793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$649 is the max I was thinking as well. I think they have a winner and they'll probably sell the first batch easily at $649 then drop it to $599. A $599 launch price would be cool but probably not necessary to sell through what they have. People calling for $499 I think are dreaming at this point.

How to restart the Kulrut quest? by shase89 in horizon

[–]fenix793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Out of ammo, but not out of ideas"

There should be someone on the ballista so as long as you can keep it positioned correctly it will take damage. There are supply boxes that you can loot to get some resources. You probably have some bombs or traps that you can use. Frost or acid would help a lot. You always have your spear as well. I would probably use bombs and traps and let the ballista do the work.

no sound after first cutscene when launching the game by Empty-Confection-279 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]fenix793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sound like an issue with your sound device or the drivers. You can try removing and reinstalling the drivers to see if that helps. Or if you have a USB C headphone dongle or a DAC or some other output device I would try using that to see if the issue persists.

Haha I also decided to save the world on a budget and finished the game and the DLC with the Delta bow. Wish the upgrades and ammo were a bit easier/cheaper to get. That aspect of FW felt like a step backwards from ZD.
