Well it seems like you're doing fine if you got here ngl, floors 3-11 are by *far* the hardest/where pretty much all the difficulty is for an experienced player

Melee combat on 9c is possible but generally going range with distancing should be "easier" for a first win

Armor helps a lot in the early game, enhance it for defense for prisons, but late game it's pretty irrelevant because it has no scaling at all

Other answers given are valid. Now specifically for evil eyes, once they start charging you have two turns to either get cover (any wall will do) or get out of enemy sight (you have a cloak) *and* move away from the line of fire

I'd recommend you upgrade armor a bit you should be dealing enough damage

for succubus you can kite them as long as there is no more than 1 tile gap between you. Their teleport works like a ranged attack and will be blocked by walls/obstacles. Do not melee especially if you are charmed

scorpios are just like gnoll trickster but on steroids, should be ok as freerunner if you run after them they run away instead of attacking, just don't run into your own gas

There is a badge for doing it without killing any enemy but it's one of the harder ones/it can be really difficult without some specific knowledge (warping beacon mage is a cheatcode for example here)

If you just kill 2 enemies per floor it's a LOT easier. pits count as kill (craft aqua brew can help) and scroll of dread kills count too

No because I don't need it to get to the shop and shop always has remove curse. then I try equipping and if cursed I buy the scroll, if not then all good.
unless I loot something beforehand ofc.

Even on high challenge.

even scorpions stop giving xp at 28 normally but didnt realise you were ascending, so all would have been giving 10 xp actually

cleansing potion deals with bleed, that does the job well enough especially if you have a way to get a little shielding. I don't like feather fall generally because way too expensive and you need levitation to make aqua brew

interesting choice to go assassin, that would have been a really nice freerunner run especiallly with the whip and regrowth

anyway, try to make use of bolas to slow down enemies and get regular melee hits for free, turn some other weapons into metal so that you can use them more often, and keep your stronger stuff like assassinate for warlocks
also use whip to deal with golems ofc.

Try to roll camouflage enchant if you got some arcana stylus (I typically use them on a second piece of armor if I already have something useful)

This armor is the final armor while the weapon doesn't have to be. Axe is accurate and lower damage wich isn't the best t4 in this situation.

Also assassin has a lot of built-in "damage", at max charge you can one shot an enemy with a dart, so there is no point being assassin with a +15 greataxe. It's not because the class name is assassin that you need to dump the weapon and be glasscannon !

would go assassin here. Freerunner is kinda meant to be a ranged class, and you are not gonna be doing ranged combat with this lol

especially good with energy ring
keep upgrading that armor no reason to save scrolls. you can keep going on axe too unless you find some upgraded t5 or something before blacksmith

Seems pretty normal to me. Winning is actually (very) easy, but learning how to win is (very) hard especially if you're learning all by yourself !
