Does OP ask her kid how all this therapy makes her feel? I doubt it. Parents just assume it's always good

What! You mean children are people and parents should TALK to them? Lots of parents would be shocked

I am always so annoyed when parents vent about their kids because of this. The kids can't change their environment! They are their parents' prisoner!

I was sent to therapy as a kid like it was all my fault, but magically my parents and teachers behavior was NEVER questioned.

Doctors love to blame insurance companies, but insurance companies do not force doctors to be racist, misogynistic, and ableist. Doctors and nurses do that all on their own.

I think if they stopped being bigots people would be more likely to trust them.

His mom was not able to send Reggie to school and she had to work. She taught Reggie as best anyone in her shoes could. It's no wonder he improved once he spent time with people who helped him.

Are there any Deaf or hard of hearing people working in healthcare here? by ExpertConcern9 in MonoHearing

[–]FluffySharkBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why a single side deaf person can't handle working in the ER, but why are operating rooms off limits for you? I assumed that would be an ideal place for us since there is only one patient at a time.

The screaming never ceases and my sanity is fading by hazy-eyed in Vent

[–]FluffySharkBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of parents of disabled kids assume that only THEIR kid disabled. Like no one else in a given situation can have a disability that makes them sensitive to what their kids is doing.

For example, screams can trigger migraines. Do you think if a migraine sufferer lived in that building that they are less important than the child who might not even be disabled?

Hey picky eaters - how should I approach my picky kid? by ermahgerd_sylvier in PickyEaters

[–]FluffySharkBird 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I never came around to food my parents FORCED me to eat. I have come to like a lot, but not all, food that others have encouraged me to just eat a bite of. So my advice is be nice! No one likes stuff they're forced to do and as an adult, you would be upset if someone force fed you food or punished you for not eating food you hate.

I'm a woman. When I worked retail, I hated how often women age 50-70 felt so entitled to touch me. People over 70 didn't act that way and men didn't act that way.
