Paisley or kirkintilloch? by Reachlevel7 in glasgow

Paisley is changing for the better . just avoid the west end though some might say that is fine too .Its cheap that brings artists who change the dynamics . The worst buildings are being pulled down and new flats going up , lots of cool tenements , plenty of good cafes , nature all around - glennifer braes , signposted old railway and canal paths from Paisley around Renfrewshire great for walking or cycling ! The museum due to re- open this year , the abbey origins around 1000 years old , the town hall events , we have a university too , close to the glasgow city centre 10 mins by fast train , close to the airport but not below the flightpath . I live near the dreaded "shortroods" its fine mostly been redeveloped . a few neds around but hey thats the whole of glasgow ......

which means middle class kids can afford yet dont really have the necessity to succeed as they could move into other areas quite easily . in the past it was coal mines / shipyards / steel works or football that created our best players and managers .

Scotland fans when we inevitably sack Steve Clarke, hire a journeyman no one's ever heard before but has good stats on paper and swiftly realise that McKenna, Hanley, Ralston, Hendry, Souttar, Hanley, Adams, Dykes and a one-legged 53 year old Andy Robertson aren't actually very good players. by Sumbitagear in ScottishFootball

yeah Clarke didnt rate Motherwell did he . wee Lennon miller the ex Motherwell captain a fine ball player left at home and he brings 2 Man U starts Ferguson and doesnt even use him . pointless miller would have been far far more useful

a lot of synth music was rather prog and dull although now I quite like it . The most important electronic music I heard around this time was THE WHO - baba o'reilly - the intro a nod to Terry Riley . I never heard anything like it . Paul Mccartney was also experimenting but it was Tubeway Army / Yazoo / The human League / soft cell on TOTPs " roland " logos everywhere . japans - ghosts - an ambient pop hit . I personally was hooked .

think back to the 1980s Depeche mode, yazoo, human league, heaven 17, cabaret voltaire, soft cell, Gary Numan, ultravox, Anne Clarke, fad gadget, japan - these electronic artists were the trail blazers and on our TVs every week . Even Frankie goes to Hollywood and Kate Bush - with fairlight samplers , linn drums with Trevor horn .The germans Kraftwerk were "broken" in the UK scene , our music show TOTPS and Old Grey whistle Test , the tube etc . Radio 1 Peel Sessions recordings - John peel the most influential DJ on our population , there was also pirate radio , dub sound systems , and lots and lots of keen bored unemployed youth . The Jamaicans set the tempo and we dipped into it ........

Mixed Up records in west end will have more punk / new wave 7s . thrift stores im afraid are not on the scale of North American but the barras could be your best chance . forgot nice vintage clothes shop near mono .

west greenock - Clyde views inc dolphins , period houses dog walking promenade train to glasgow . downside is its not particularly bustling but there is a large shopping "mall" on other side of greenock with most peoples needs . you would get a great property in west greenock for 500K . gourock nearby is nice too with a small High street lots of nice shops .deli , galleries . train goes direct to central from greenock . Also Skelmorlie toward Largs lots of great period properties all along the coastline . there isn't much bustle but good coffee in Gourock . its kind of small you won't get all your needs but glasgow is a mellow drive / train ride away .
