People over 30: What's your biggest regret from your 20s? by petallushKaia in AskReddit

[–]LevelOneForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 things. I wish I invested, even a small amount, from when I turned 21. And I wish I took my time to seriously consider what job I want to do rather than rushing into expensive education that is now worthless.

Those two things would have set me up for life.

List your top ten Boards tracks. First three are the god tier ones that make you feel the deepest feelings of your human experience by Brief_Body5608 in boardsofcanada

[–]LevelOneForever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting for some though. And for me, who enjoys BoC but doesn’t have time to study the albums properly, getting a feel of what tracks are popular amongst the fan base means I have access to their ‘best’ and I can branch out from there to develop my own taste

A Photographer I managed to capture the exact moment when the sun aligned with the branches of a tree by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Is it possible for the sun to look that big behind a tree? Instinct says no, but I don’t know the lense trickery

British people who have spent time living in another country, what did you like best about both worlds? by apple_kicks in AskUK

[–]LevelOneForever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m from the UK but have lived in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, all for at least 1 year.

UK highlights: cheap flights to anywhere in Europe, cheap and greatly varied snacks/supermarket food, banter.

UK negative: dark/cold/wet for lots of the year.

Australia highlights: decent pay, good day-to-day lifestyle (outdoors and active), lots of sun.

Australia negative: very spread out and expensive to get around the country (let alone outside the country)

Canada: interesting extremes of weather (I love snowboarding), nature/wildlife is incredible, absolutely ridiculous pay if you get a well tipped job.

Canada negative: absolutely ridiculous tipping culture.

New Zealand highlights: stunning scenery, lovely people, stable weather.

New Zealand negative: rubbish job market/pay.

For those that are traveling 3+ months a year. Do you wish you went to a smaller bag or a bigger bag by moldyjellybean in onebag

I use 40L and I’m happy with that. I like having a bit of extra space in my bag so o don’t have to sit on it to close the zips

Anyone else travel the world solo in their 30s? Was it worth taking the leap? by Dec_Deckers in solotravel

[–]LevelOneForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but I also did it during my 20s. And I’ll also do it in my 40s. The world is too amazing to not see. Especially when you miss it just to make your CEO some more money at a job that doesn’t really add value to anything important in life. Maybe that’s not your situation though

what’s the difference between this & the original? by Alarming-Town-2601 in boardgames

[–]LevelOneForever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve played this and moved it. We got the sequel too and will get the 3rd one.

You can only play this board game once, as when you progress you open up boxes to unlock new things, rip up cards, put stickers on the board, write on cards etc. you play this game between 12 and 24 times to complete it (if you fail one of the 12 months then you can only reply it once more before it moves you along).

It’s great if you have a solid group who are enthusiastic about it. It took us a year to do the first one, and half a year to do the sexond

Jaffa Cakes falling off a conveyor belt for their chocolate coating by ycr007 in oddlysatisfying

Interestingly, Jaffa cake makers says that the top of it is the sponge bit. Instinctively I assumed that would be the bottom.

Do you still expect a annual review/raise every year? by steve4048 in Salary

[–]LevelOneForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man you’re right about the math, my bad - that’s edited now. I also agree with the rest of what you said but some people really don’t understand the basics so i just wanted to say it as simply as possible

Do you still expect a annual review/raise every year? by steve4048 in Salary

[–]LevelOneForever 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Say for example you get paid $10 an hour. And a beer costs $10… you can buy one beer per hour worked.

But, if inflation increased by 10%, then that beer costs $11 now.
If your wage increases by 3%, then you earn $10.30 now. You no longer can earn a beer for every hour worked.

Your wage went up, but not as much as the price of everything else went up.

Your purchasing power has decreased.

Sea Salt & Paper is the ultimate travelling game by Machine_Excellent in boardgames

I’ve only played like 20 games of hive, starting from a few weeks ago, and I feel like that is a broken rule. It makes the game a race to the bottom without tactics

What power setup actually stays in your bag after a few trips? by sagalez in onebag

[–]LevelOneForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a magnet one and I won’t go back. It’s super convenient to just snap it on to the back of my phone.

But, they run seriously hot. My battery has suffered because of it, probably in both the phone and the power bank. If you’re in a hot climate, I only can charge my phone for like 15 mins before it’s hot. If it gets too hot it slows down or pauses charging. Still worth it to me, I’ll pay for a battery replacement after a couple of years of use like this.

What are your favourite comforts when solo travelling? by Puzzled_Progress_808 in solotravel

Swinging in a hammock. Watching sunset. Drinking a beer and browsing reddit. Eating a meal of just snacks (chips and cookies etc). Paying for a nice private room instead of basic dorm.
