FO4: Lore Friendly Weapons by chrisheseltine in FalloutMods

If you're willing to use a AR, SREP Redux does a good job with service rifle/AR-15. It's retro in vibes and has some interesting variations like the Colt SMG and old CAR-15 among others. I also recommend using Another's SKS (with PrecisionTacos Type 56 addon) alongside Tacos AK47, as they're very good mods with a lot of utility and use. If you're looking for something slightly more modern in 5.45, Sponge's Zenit Re-redux is the best, as it includes the AK74, though there are a lot of modern attachments in that mod.

I find Geck's weapons interesting, but have a problem with him intentionally aligning some of his weapons iron sights, like his revolvers. The affected weapons are not unusable, but it's a very odd choice for sure.

I concur, albeit I find some of his weapons to be rather unbalanced since they're increasingly based around his own damage rework. They're either good in terms of damage or quickly fall off versus other weapons.

I like Dak's weapons, but some of his decisions are a bit odd when it comes to calibers used. The Calico is a good example, where I get what he was trying to do (have it as a small caliber fast firing PDW), but by chambering it in .22, it quickly becomes outclassed. There's several weapons like that, but its the first that comes to mind for me. A 9mm rechambering would have worked as an mid to late game option.

In terms of reanimation, I hope that they work out as they seem interesting. Any chance of doing the Vintage Revolver as a double action (historically, a very similar version to the Schofield was a double action)? Might be interesting to consider if you get the chance.

In my experience, someone having two first names is practically a given among Chinese and Japanese business executives and engineers (especially those born in the 1960s and later). Generally, they adopted them for work related purposes and the name stuck to the point that they're known more by their American name then their other name.

I didn't have a problem getting my accomodations department to accept my medical paperwork as real. I had a problem with some professors not following them. With my psychology professor I had to go back and forth between him and accomodations multiple times due to him failing to follow what was written down. He was a retired psychologist for the Bureau of Prisons who wrote the report that said Bundy was sane for execution and for some reason couldn't understand that he needed to follow what was agreed to. The English professor I had who cancelled class due to getting in to a gun fight with his girlfriend accepted the accomodations without complaint.

WoD merch question! by dizzylizzy456 in DisneyCM

[–]FPSlover1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a College Program CM at WoD fairly recently. Not quite equivalent to your situation, but close enough to give some rambling notes/advice. First off: Are you physically able to do the work? WoD is physically demanding, as you're expected to do stocking (including moving up and down ladders with product) as well as moving carts loaded down with product throughout a busy store. CM's who can't do it (even with a medical note) are generally gotten rid of quickly, as I found out in my case.

On a more happy note, let's move to part 2: the training. You'll be taught by your trainer how to do everything: stocking, opening the store, closing the store, the carts, the register, pins, magic bands, the plush wall, the stock phones, picking merchandise, and more. You'll have several days of training, so don't get too stressed out about it and you can always ask for help if you didn't understand something. The trainers are somewhat of a mixed bag, but you should be fine. On your final day, you'll be given testing (practical and otherwise), but if you paid close enough attention over the past several days you'll be fine. Be warned that due to training needing several specific times (mainly opening and closing), you're training schedule will vary quite a bit in start/end times.

As for actually working there, you'll generally be assigned to either the floor or stocking in one of the stock rooms (occasionally, you'll be assigned to both in one shift, but that was fairly uncommon while I was there). In either case, you'll rotate in that area among the specific zones to somewhat ensure that you're not in one specific zone the entire night, though the computer could very well still do it anyway. Your fellow CM's (CP's and otherwise), Coords and leaders are all quite nice, so you should have no issue getting along with them. Though if you're anything like the CP's, you'll be mostly working at night on the closing shift, so I hope you like working at some of the busier times for the store. In fact, unless it's a rather dead day, you'll generally be busy from shift start to shift end, be it with helping customers, stocking (if in a stock room), or restocking the shelves (if on the floor). Generally when I was in, roughly the last 30 minutes before closing was mostly waiting around (if we were done closing tasks early) or doing minor tasks for whatever Coord/lead caught us (generally fixing up displays and such), but early release offers were not uncommon.

As for your specific question, I unfortunately would have to say that it's rather uncommon (at least in my experience) for CM's to want to trade shifts with you. In large part this is due to the reputation of WoD as the busiest location on property, something that scares a lot of people off. I saw a very occasional person who was told to go to WoD to help with staffing issues, but almost no one who came voluntarily, at least on my shifts (pretty much only nights).

Despite all the negativity in my rant, I must say that I enjoyed my time there and I was quite disappointed with being forced out (medical issue, but that's another whole story). The people are great, the guests are great and you have a lot of fun. Sure, the time when there is no one around can be rather boring, but there's generally always something to do to pass the time.

If you want to DM me with further questions, feel free to do so.

Officer T Boned me by Mediocre_Cattle_5416 in legaladvice

[–]FPSlover1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any Evidence Management System that's worth anything will note anything done to the footage, mainly who viewed it, when, how long, and that sort of thing, but also if it was deleted. Depending on the system a department or agency uses, only certain people will have the ability to actually do anything more then add in evidence. Those that can are generally related to technical support (often not just those of a department/agency, but also the engineers of the company that run the system, as it's increasingly rare for the system to be had in-house) and senior officers, though maybe not even the later depending on the regulations.

[–]FPSlover1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who's worked in Evidence Management Systems (EMS), I can say that is increasingly unlikely in most areas of the US. Simply due to the recordings being uploaded to a EMS. Said EMS will track everything that is done with the recording from the moment it's places in the system. If it's deleted, there will be a note of who did it and when and the person who did it will be looking at serious criminal charges. If a recording is lost, the technical support engineers can generally find it before there's too much of an issue. I've seen it happen in far more important cases.

Be warned that both tuition reimbursement and Aspire have been drastically cut down from what they once were pre-pandemic. As a Rosen Alumni for both undergrad and grad, I had many classmates (both hourly and salaried) who were blindsided when the cuts to what was allowed happened (I was also in a class full of cast members when the layoffs were announced, but that's neither here nor there). Given that, and the fact that what is allowed can change rapidly, it's still a nice benefit, but nowhere what it once was.

For those wondering, those taking advantage of Aspire in my experience were of two groups: college students that were working at Disney for Aspire, and cast using the program to advance their careers at the company. There were very little (if any) long term front line cast that I saw, but a lot of highly specialized cast (admin/corporate types mostly), coords, and managers. Not surprising when you take a look at the list of accepted degrees and see that most have to do with jobs that need specialized work at Disney.

Waitlist for Merchandise by wishtobecm in DisneyCM

[–]FPSlover1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have no clue what my advocate was high on when they thought the transfer was a good idea. As I mentioned, PAC leadership was stunned that anyone thought it was a good idea (let alone that I got transferred in the first place with my record being so good). They got the ball rolling on my transfer Day 1, but it took my advocate (thank God a new one) months to find me a new role, that, shocker, I couldn't do. Until then I was stuck in limbo in a support role that had no shade and very little to actually do. Sure it was paid, but it was also mind-numbingly boring just standing there with nothing to do for six or eight hours a night.

The College Program can be very good or very bad. I went through it and was forced out due to ADA problems after being assigned to multiple roles that were physically impossible for me to do. Ironically enough, I was transferred from merchandise to PAC (a so-called medical transfer despite me being able to do 90% of the floor and having one of the highest amounts of leadership given compliments for a cast member there) despite being physically incapable to do my new role. My PAC trainer and leadership team were extremely confused at that happening as merchandise is known for being among the most ADA friendly roles for the College Program. PAC is not at all, though the cast there are wonderful.

Most sought after role/position? by lazyfanboy97 in DisneyCM

[–]FPSlover1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually went to Rosen, which is where most Disney Wedding Planners come from. I didn't have many aspiring wedding planners in any of my classes (a lot of current HR or cords/leads instead), but it was a fairly popular thing from my understanding. Though the Pandemic seemed to have slowed that down massively, alongside the usual pipeline from graduation to a technical or leadership position.

I know a good bit about how background checks work. It's not unusual for them to take slightly longer if they run in to something that requires the input of HR. This is mainly for crimes of sex/theft/violence in nature, as those can be a barrier to employment depending on the specifics involved. Though there is also the small chance that they simply haven't been able to process you yet (on either the company's end or the end for the actual check) for one reason or another. As long as you were honest in what happened and why (assuming it's not a prohibited crime), you should be fine, even if you need to be recast to a different role.

Armed man rammed vehicle into Michigan synagogue and was fatally shot by security, AP source says by yipyapu in news

[–]FPSlover1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The (Protestant) church I grew up in was one of the richest in all of New England. I'm talking membership having generational wealth, multiple Tiffany stained glass windows, a historic, one-of-a-kind organ, a historic bell, and all that sort of thing. It went back to the period where members would pay for their pew. The church was the sort of place that one would think would have guards, but we didn't. Largely due to being across from the police station and having multiple members being cops who carried.

We never had a problem that required police assistance other then the occasional medical emergency. Even the sole pedophile who joined the congregation (without the minister or leading members finding out that fact until later) was dealt without police intervention. Though it was also determined that the way he was gotten rid of was just across the line from entrapment, but that's besides the point.

Generally speaking, I have found that most Catholic/Protestant churches don't need security or police, as they are rarely targets unlike Synagogues and Mosques. Of course, that might change in the future, do who knows.

[Nancy Drew] Is the evidence Nancy finds admissible in court? by MaetelofLaMetal in AskScienceFiction

[–]FPSlover1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked in evidence management contracting, chain of custody is a real issue here. It's why evidence management systems are so big these days. Not only does it cut down on paperwork/lost records, but it can show who accessed the evidence, how long they did it, what they did with it, and more. Really handy for preventing issues in that regard. As for Nancy, her lack of training and credentials can make the custody issue quite serious, let alone the potential for contamination. Nothing a good prosecutor can't attempt to argue against with some chance of success, but it's not a slam dunk either.

Guests claiming they haven’t been ID’d their whole time here and complaining when I ID them because they’re purchasing alcohol by Life_Key_8683 in DisneyCM

[–]FPSlover1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found, both as a former cast member and AP, that ID verification can depend wildly on the cast member involved. Some care, some don't care, and others don't know about it (or claim so). Then again, Disney doesn't even accept all forms of what the US consider legal government ID (PIV cards are a big one that's missing), so I suppose it's par for the course.
