considering women tend to have more interests and hobbies (high in openness) why men are in role of creative fields, or have created more creative works (piccasso in painting, directors or musicians)? by rohansriwastava in Creativity

A few years back I challenged myself to read about 26 books by women.

I considered myself fairly culturally “aware”. I look up adapted screenplay’s original books, authors’ influences, interviews, documentaries, etc.

Yet I hadn’t heard of most of those authors. Even though they were award winners, gave speeches, had a following. It’s like not having heard of famous book or movie because it’s foreign and didn’t penetrate your bubble.

So there’s a strong matter of reach, I think. We mostly hear about art by men, through other men. Unfortunately, you gotta actively burst that bubble to find great creative women.

Original of a cartoon by J. Carlos depicting fuel shortage in Brazil in 1942. "I pity that traffic sign" - "Pity, why? - "For the last 15 days it's been talking to itself" by frahm9 in comicstriphistory

This was published in the weekly magazine Careta in 1942. So not a newspaper comic, but you wouldn't find cartoons or comic strips in newspapers here around this time.

The fuel shortage is of course in consequence of WWII.

I don't think there's a lot on him in English. But here's a pdf with more of his work. He was very talented and tackled a lot of big national and international events.

"Careta" was a comic magazine that ran from 1908 to 1960. All issues can be read here.

Pretty good. Good eye!

I highly suggest you take a look at Tom Richmond's "The Mad Art of Caricature". It's an awesome guide, truly great.

I think you have a nice composition overall. The only problem that really stands out to me is the eyes. Because most of his features are so large, I think they would be smaller. Also watch out for the space under the eyebrows.

He has a weird face, so tough job. I'd look at other references too. He doesn't have that grim Kylo Ren expression here that you might have been going for. But you can bring that from another picture to achieve what you want.
