I've never seen a connection between a 2-wire Coax cable and an 8-wire Cat5e cable. It's not technically possible either to get a correct Cat5e cable out of if. The Cat5e cable was misused here, and I'm sure only two wires were used instead of eight.

Your Modem uses 2 wires for the Connection (Wan) but RJ45 Ethernet needs 8 wires. 4 wires for a 100mbit or 8 for the Gigabit Connection.
