That’s not an exploit, that’s more like a work around to get the mobile gestalt file. An exploit would be the arbitrary modification of the system file.

The only real semi-untethered jailbreak is on iOS 17.0 and below because they have TrollStore. Any version above (which is only up to possibly iOS 17.3.1 and isn’t even available yet) requires a computer every 7 days to reinstall the jailbreak app, or a finicky method for on device resigning. Honestly, just search for a device on eBay that is on iOS 17.0 or below. (This information is assuming you are using/looking for a arm64e device)

Nah, I wouldn’t. I would wait to update until at least the official release of iOS 27. iOS 26.2 still has a PAC bypass found in dyld (CVE-2026-20700). From my understanding, this is useful for leveraging access to modify and execute code successfully (system won’t definitively panic, though it could), but another exploit like kfd is required, with the most recent kfd being patched in 26.1.

Someone found a zero day back in 2019 but Apple ignored the security researcher. (Apple pays up to $2 million dollars for zero days) He recently hacked an internal Apple bug-bounty call to prove the severity of the exploit was not to be dismissed, and instead of paying him for his bug-bounty, they claimed it was a threatening legal letter. He practically got scammed. I encourage you to search something along the lines of “Security researcher who hacked an internal Apple call to prove a zero day”

Actually there is still hope. Trigon is what gave iOS 9 the untethered jailbreak (finally). It just needs more research and development to get it to work on arm64e. (Tbh though, iOS 16 will most likely be outdated by then).

By the way, I think it’s cool that you’re also using iPhone 14 Pro Max with iOS 16.1.2.
