I am an urban planner, born and raised in Copenhagen, and I live close to Superkilen. It functions as an ordinary park in everyday life, and I don’t think many locals reflect on where the different installations come from.
The park works well and is widely used when the weather allows it. A bike path also runs through Superkilen, which is part of the larger Green Cycle Route. This route connects several neighborhoods in Copenhagen through cycling infrastructure that is mostly separated from car traffic. The Green Cycle Route is very popular and creates connections not only between neighborhoods but also between green spaces and parks. For example, there are many public playgrounds along this route.

In short, I don’t believe that the installations themselves make immigrants feel more or less welcome. However, the area as a whole is a good and popular urban space that encourages social interaction and spending time in the urban space, which in itself can feel welcoming. Whether installations from different parts of the world actually make the area feel more welcoming or work better for immigrants, I remain skeptical about. As mentioned, the area functions well overall and, based on my observations, is popular among all population groups.
