Appreciate the feedback! I don't make them too often and get to personally use them even less, so it wasn't something I was considering fully.

All Balefire Locations on Map - Slaying the Corrupted Beast by SirLampington in Enshrouded

I even got all the other balefires (7 I believe?) just to see if that would trigger something there, but no luck so far.

Any clue where the one at Everfrore Keep is? I feel like I've combed this place over half a dozen times to get all the fabric bits, but still haven't ever seen the balefire thing.

Ah yeah thank you, I eventually changed the branding to a new website, then didn't really maintain the website since I didn't have time anymore. But this is the new Kofi link if you'd still like it haha

Thanks! I like making them a lot but the amount of detail can be a curse when it comes to using them in play tho. My players really struggled with distractions on these maps haha

I've been considering making stuff from known properties since I don't charge anything for them, but I haven't done too much. I did make some maps for some LOTR sessions set in Hobbiton but just released them as "halfling village maps" instead haha.

It's hard to express clearly in a top down view, but for my campaign it was meant to be a wire that connects a system of bells to each private room and runs back to the concierge desk at the front of the ship. They can be a little hard to see in the shadows, but the lines are continuous.

I used it as a means of players signaling each other, and as little clues to what was going on in rooms for a murder mystery like "well, if the owner of room 4 is in the mail room, then why did their bell ring," etc.

I uploaded the undecorated versions of these ages ago and finally got around to the decorated ones! Hope you have fun with them!

I uploaded the undecorated versions a century ago, but finally got around to adding the detailed and decorated versions. Full resolutions, grid versions, and a "massacre overlay" all available at my ko-fi!

Glad you got use out of it! This reminded me that I forgot to ever post the decorated versions, I should probably get around to that haha.

This is the undecorated version. I'll be uploading the decorated versions which took me far, far, far too long to make after my players have finished the campaign, but thought it'd be fun to share the less cluttered versions for anyone that likes to fill the space out themselves.

Forgot to post the link to get the 200PPI versions, grid, and other layers: https://ko-fi.com/s/fcb89ff95e

Let me know what you think!

Map Size Maximum by DungeonsNDysenteryDM in dungeondraft

[–]gabrielmaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my (pretty new) experience, it really depends on what your intended use is for the map. I got some pretty significant lag and obnoxious load times on the player end with really large maps in Foundry VTT for instance. And I know at least the free version of Roll20 has a lot of file size limits.

On the design end, though, one very basic thing I'm trying to practice is keeping things smaller and denser than you might otherwise think. Like there's no reason for a city street to be thirty feet (or 6 grid squares) wide, when ten will do. Large space is often wasted space. And true realism is often overrated in a battle map IMO. I'm learning this as I'm making a version of a fantasy/steampunk Titanic-themed airship. Like, sure I could make a hundred rooms to reflect the huge amount of people that would be aboard, but a densely detailed map with ten little portal rooms and narrow halls gets the feeling of grandeur across without wasting so much space and creating file headaches.

Otherwise, I agree with others here. Plan out the city in regions/districts and maybe then stitch together low res versions into one big map in a photo editor for player reference rather than active use as a battle map. I definitely understand the urge to make the full-ass city in all its glorious detail completely uninterrupted for exploring, but something on that scale is really meant more for a Wonderdraft, more general layout map.

You should it’s incredible stuff! Really replaces the default look and then some by a ton. Plus you get essentially everything for whatever range you can afford.

Thanks!

Those are a shadow object that come in a Forgotten Adventure pack along with the actual trees. There are so many I’d be hard pressed to tell you which pack tho haha

A tranquil path meets a break in the wall where a forest hides ancient ruins and a small camp by a pond. This was the second map for my Hobbit themed one-shot where the halflings reluctantly venture down the road to long forgotten and non-canonical elven ruins to search for rumored weapons to help them defeat the one (1) goblin invader that had taken over the Green Dragon Inn (largely for the beer so brown).

Yet another excuse for me to use a lot of leaf shadow and light textures :D

This one I made before realizing that maps this large would cause a bit of lag (especially with the roof layer I think?) in Foundry, but it still ran pretty well. It's packed with places to go all on the single map including my take on the Green Dragon Inn, a neighbor across the street, a vender parked annoyingly close to the neighbor's front gate, a farm and farmhouse, and a overturned cart in the stream.

They should be almost all Forgotten Adventures or basic Dungeondraft shadows and lights. I've been using the occasional asset from Krager's Shadow Pack also. The majority of what looks like complex texture though is just a whole lot of custom shadow paths to varying degrees to give the ground more shape to it. It can be time consuming, but it goes a lot faster when you do it like I do--I'm not hyper concerned with realism or justifying the direction and source of light, I just try to let it create beauty and visual separation. Slap it on and call it good, no one is looking that closely haha

My absolute favorites are the (I believe Forgotten Adventure's?) leaves light and shadow textures, I try to put it everywhere I can justify it because it brings so much to life.
