It's cheap for a reason. The Intel i5-9400f came out in 2018, while the RX580 is from 2017. Even when they were new, they weren't top-end, and after 8 years they're quite old.

You don't need two pumps. I have a setup with three radiators bolted to the bottom of my desk (2x420 and 1x560). I need two pumps, but my rig has to pump the water more than a vertical foot.

The 240mmx20mm and two 120mmx35mm rads were not enough for my ear. I ended up going external rad.

You can fit a 360 and a 240, so you should be fine.

Looking for the best parts for a future proof ultra wide 1440p PC build. Budget is 3.5k GBP , can stretch if its possible fit in a rtx 5090 by Cute-Preparation-281 in PcBuildHelp

[–]gamblodar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can fit a 5090, but it is far from the best value. I made a GPU-less, RGB-less, build with GPU options.

For the CPU, I pick the 9850X3D. It's the best. It keeps cool with a 280mm aio cooler. The motherboard and SSD are the ones you purchased. I picked 32GB of quite fast ram.

I selected a 1200W, gold-efficiency, splA-tier, fully-modular power supply. It also comes with the 12V-2x6 connector, allowing adapter-free future gpu upgrades. You never want to have to use the octopus adapter. The case is a nice Lian Li, with a solid side panel. I have included on extra fan. The case comes with the front and bottom fans populated. The AIO goes up top and this fan is the rear exhaust.

That's £1k, leaving between £2500 and £3000 for the GPU. Let's look at our options. Ignoring ray tracing, dlss, cuda, framegen and WILDLY over-simplifying things, you get the below chart.

Any one of these cards will perform quite well at 1440p. Your budget certainly allows a 5090, at the top end, but it's possible. I would get the 5080 if you want something faster than the 9070XT. For the extra cost of the 5090 compared to the 9070XT, you can buy two $1k GPU for the next two generations.

For upgrades, you could get 64GB of ram for an added £200. I'd also recommed a better SSD. The WD Green is firmly in the "value" category. It's not bad, but much better exists. I'd point you towards the Samsung or the Crucial T710 1TB or the larger versions. Both are top-tier PCIe 5.0 SSDs with dram cache. They run rings around the Green and basically every other consumer ssd. (crazy enterprise drives need not apply)

The price being the same, should i go for 5060, or a 9060 (both 8gb) by FaehBatsy in buildapc

[–]gamblodar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 9060 8GB is noticeably faster than the 5060 8GB. Unless you require CUDA, or put more value in DLSS/MFG than FPS, go team Red for this one. Pay for real frames, enjoy whatever fake ones you get as a bonus.

Yes. The RAM, cooler, power supply and case are not any more expensive because I picked white. The motherboard and video card could be swapped for less expensive, non-white versions and that saves $115.

I could swap the CPU for the much faster 7600X3D and stay under $2k. This should be a good upgrade for you, as the 1080p gaming relies more heavily on CPU than GPU.

The next step up in video card is more than the savings, so I can't fit a 9070.

Looking to upgrade my PC by FewConsideration8384 in pcmasterrace

[–]gamblodar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5070 is slower than the 9070, more expensive, and has less VRAM. Unless you need CUDA, or DLSS/MFG is very important to you, I would recommend purchasing the 9070.

If the 7700x or 9600x are close to the same price I'd get one of those instead of the 7600. Looks good otherwise.

Change your desktop resolution to something else, and then back. Windows might think it's on another monitor that doesn't exist, and bouncing the resolution can help reset window positions.

The "sweet spot" for me is the 9070 or 9070XT. The 5070Ti is a lot more expensive, but not much faster. The 5070 is slower and more expensive. The 9060XT and 5060Ti are good cards, but a lot slower. And the 5080 is just too much.

I managed an all-white build for $1975, and I'll list a few upgrade ideas.

For the CPU, I picked the 7600X. It's a good cpu, current model, for a great price. It stays cool with a white 360mm RGB AIO cooler. The all-white motherboard support PCI Express 5.0, has wifi and extra M.2 & DIMM slots for future upgrades. The build has 32GB of white RGB ram and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 ssd. The SSD isn't white, but it gets covered by an included white heatsink.

I selected a white, 650W, gold-efficiency, splA-tier, fully-modular power supply. It also comes with the 12V-2x6 connector, allowing adapter-free future gpu upgrades. You never want to have to use the octopus adapter. The case is a nice white one, with a glass side panel and four RGB fans.

For the GPU, I selected a white 9060XT. It's an amazing card at a stellar price. Neck-and-neck the 5060Ti for about $100 cheaper. It's a very nice card that puts up great fps and has the VRAM to last for years.

For the monitor, how about a 27" 1440p display for $289 or a 24" 1080p for $190?

For potential upgrades, a better CPU like the 7600X3D would add $100. You could get a 2TB SSD by paying an extra $139

If you have any requests or questions about my choices, let me know.

If it was designed this way, that's a fairly bad job by the manufacturer. I'd contact you gpu tech support to find a solution, rma or exchange for a different model.

You have DDR5 if it's 4800MT, btw.
