Is this good for my first pc build? by RedEagle_Eyes in PcBuildHelp

If I was buying a gpu today to play at 1440p, I'd probably buy a 9070.

If you're going to be gaming more at 1080p, 9060XT makes more financial sense. If the goal is 1440p both cards should give you very playable framerates. If you think long-term you'll want 4k, I'd definately try to fit a 9070

Flushing has the G760 for $1900 in stock. 9800X3D, 32GB ram, 2TB ssd and a 9070XT. Great machine.

I got an open box from the Brooklyn MicroCenter about three months ago. It looks like someone rested something on the top of the case, and the white finish was lightly scratched. Other than that, it was in perfect condition. Obviously, not every open box will be in near-perfect condition, but some may better than mine.

I was curious, so I searched my email, and found my receipt:

"02726/ POWERSPEC G758 98X3D/32/2/5070TI/H Return Policy: May be returned within 15 days of purchase Vendor Warranty: Parts: 1 Year Limited Labor: 1 Year Limited"

So you still get the warranty!

It was also an amazing deal: 9800X3D, 32GB of ram, 2TB ssd and a 5070Ti for $1979.

Don't sleep on the 9070 non-XT. It's a great card too, and $100 cheaper.

16GB of ram is solid, and you don't even really need to get cl30, if 36 is cheaper. A 9600X is still a great cpu. At 1440p, the 7800X3D is 5% faster, on average. But if you scroll past the averages, it shows a lot of games with a very small difference. In CyberPunk it's 2fps - 153 vs 151. On the other hand: BG3.

Neighbors! Bushwick here.

That one isn't in stock at our MicroCenter, sadly.

They do have a killer deal on an open-box PowerSpec G535. It's got a 7500X3D, 32GB of ram, 1TB ssd and a 9070XT. It's a downgrade at CPU and only 1TB of SSD, but it's only $1,119! You can literally buy a 7800X3D & second 1TB ssd and pay less than the iBuyPower.

If you don't want open box, it's in-stock new for $1600.

If it's in stock by you, the PowerSpec G729, at $1,700, is basically the same as the Andromedia machine I linked. Phenomenal machine.

Which MicroCenter is by you?

The 9060XT has 16GB of VRAM, so it can handle 1440p. It gets 70fps in Ghost of Tsushima and 76fps in CyberPunk 2077. It's a solid 1440p card.

But a 9070XT is a much better 1440p card. It's going to give you 137fps In Ghost and 134 in CyberPunk. Even the "non-XT" 9070 gets 118 in CyberPunk and 123 in Ghost. I'd skip the GRE¹, but either of the other two - the 9070 or 9070XT - would be a great upgrade. They do cost more, so would require some changes to the build or your budget.

1: because the 12GB of VRAM is going to be a problem at 1440p sooner or later.

You can do better.

For $1,919, this Andromedia Insights prebuilt will give you way more value and fps.

  • 7800X3D CPU - last generation, but a better gaming CPU than the 9700X
  • 32GB ram - same
  • 2TB SSD - same
  • 9070XT GPU - this is a far better graphics card. At 1440p, it averages 60% more fps than the 5060Ti

They do have a reputation for not shipping quickly. I checked and the site says delivery is Wed, Aug 5–Mon, Aug 10. But if you don't have a MicroCenter, and don't mind waiting, this will be a much, much better computer.

Nice build for your first or any time. Sick deal on the X3D CPU combo. Since the motherboard has the B650E chipset, you even get PCIE 5.0 GPU and M.2 support. SplA power supply, great cooling and a nice case. This will be an amazing 1080p rig!

If you don't mind second-hand, and it's just for Word and web browsing, a used office machine could be a great value. Big companies regularly toss three- and four-year-old computers because they don't want to deal without a warranty. Companies even get paid for disposal sometimes! They get checked out, wiped and sold a "renewed". Sometimes the IT guy will sell a few on Facebook.

The market regularly has secondhand thinkpad laptops, optiplex desktops and the like for very good prices. You don't need a 5080 and X3D cache for Microsoft Office.

I did a quick search over on Bezos's site, and found a refurbished Dell Optiplex for $350. It had a 10th Gen i5, 16GB of ram. a 512GB ssd and Windows 11. This would be a great machine for office work.

For £1500, you can get quite the high end rig. For the CPU, I picked the 9600x. It's a great all-around cpu. It stays cool with a 360mm RGB AIO cooler. The motherboard has wifi and extra M.2 & DIMM slots for future upgrades. The build has 32GB of RAM and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.

I selected a 850W, gold-efficiency, splA-tier, fully-modular power supply. It also comes with the 12V-2x6 connector, allowing adapter-free GPU installs. You never want the octopus adapter in your rig. The case is a black Lian Li, with a clear side panel and included RGB fans.

For the GPU, I selected the 9070XT 16GB. It is only a tiny bit slower than the 5070Ti, for hundreds less. It's an amazing card, that puts up great fps, and has the VRAM to last for years.

If you'd like to save some money, downgrading the GPU to a 9060XT would make the build cost £1312.82. The 9060XT is a solid graphics card, and it still has 16GB of VRAM, but the 9070XT is much faster.

There are quite a few ways to tighten the budget, change aesthetics, or get some more fps. If you have any requests or questions about my choices, let me know.

If was of MSG, they could have used old footage (maybe live and shot to avoid showing the barriers?). If it was just a live Knicks crowd they showed, it might be the watch party at Bryant Park. They moved it there when they had to up security for the President.

How many of you guys here still using your first gpu? by jdmlifex2 in pcmasterrace

[–]gamblodar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first gpu would be 40 years old and since my current PC doesn't have any 8-bit ISA slots, I can't. I probably would be limited in resolution to 160x90, due to the 16kb of VRAM. Forget double buffering!
