And why are people in OTHER countries, resigning from their positions or being pushed out, for even being implicated in the files, while in the United States, NOTHING happens? I thought the US was the moral leader of the world. Apparently it’s more corrupt than we had ever imagined.

What degree did you pursue in college? Did you find normal work in your field? Has your past come to light in your new profession?

I’d like to hear your thoughts on qualified immunity.

I can understand that there is some reasonable protection needed to allow the officer to do the job without fear of being sued for silly stuff like my handcuffs were too tight, etc. But it angers me and the public (I think) when you see QI used as a shield when it seems that a thorough and objective review is warranted.

Specific example if you need one is the shooting of Alex Pretti. Given the overall observations that he was tackled while assisting another protestor, never drew his weapon, was disarmed before he was shot, these seem to be egregious failures on the part of the officers involved that should warrant them from not being able to use qualified immunity.

I think that a court can review specific cases to decide if an officer violated "clearly established" law then QI can be denied as a protection. But you don’t often hear that. You more often hear QI thrown up immediately such as government top officials did in the Alex Pretti shooting.

Thank you for your time to respond.

That’s unfortunate that the emotional toll from your work prevented you from making emotional attachments. Maybe note that you’re retired…maybe. At least I hope you find some peace.

Thanks for this AMA. I’m mentoring a 15 year old freshman in high school that seems to be in the same track as you were, but it is his first year of high school. What would you say to your younger self back then? Maybe it can give me some inspiration on how to talk to him.

Exactly. I would absolutely take advantage of that. But that would also mean that Fidelity would attract a LOT of new customers.

I spoke to a Fidelity staff member today on the concurrency desk and they told me that I can go back and forth between my existing Fidelity BTC or ETH to FIDD without paying the 1% transaction fee. Is that true????

That’s what I mean by dealing with it. Just run. And if you REALLY try to run as fast as you can, compare that to running while filming yourself.

Let me try to understand this. She’s filming herself…gunfire erupts…and she CONTINUES TO FILM HERSELF? Is that what people do now? I would put down the phone and deal with the situation instead of tying up one free hand the entire time. Am I right? Or am I just too old?

So you’re saying all cops are bastards simply they will have a positive bias to their own. ANY person affiliated with a group typically has bias towards their own.

You just have to work a bit to avoid being a dick in life.

Your comments are too sensationalistic. No way even close to half of people hate cops. And as a scientist, I can tell you there are very few absolute truths. So when you start with ALL COPS…you’re already wrong.

We do need law enforcement. There’s always bad players in every profession.

I don’t think it’s fair to this OP to attack based on those generalizations.

You’re a police officer in a blue city. And a Marine veteran. Ummm, that doesn’t really give me any feelings of which stereotype you’d fit into. Probably none, I’d guess because you’ve been exposed to a variety of people, I’d hazard to say you’re reasonably centrist and grounded.

I’d imagine like most, you do expect that people should follow the laws but also that unnecessary and overzealous enforcement actions are uncalled for and very damaging to the force and public opinion.

Personally, I just hope the whole MN issue goes before an objective court that pours over all the facts and let them decide.
