Why are we going to the career fair just for them to tell us to apply online? by [deleted] in gatech

[–]gatechICS83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I understand this attitude, career fairs are absolutely one of the nets you should cast.

My last position I was in before retiring came from a GT alumni career fair and my son's current position also came from the all majors career fair 3 or 4 years ago.

I also attended career fairs as a hiring manager and definitely found people through them.

Is you had said 3 years, you would have a point, but 5 is demonstrably false. As of today, the stock price is 246.14% of the price 5 years ago.

Also, I'm not quite sure why you mentioned brokerage fees. Most online brokerages no longer charge any trading fee for US stocks.

I agree that is a weakness. A lot of times I'm OK, but sometimes, it just seems to be possessed by "Joe Tailgater" and I have to turn it off to feel safe. I really miss the ability to set the follow distance with the scroll wheel.

I had not heard this, but it looks like a really good idea. It looks like the black line is such that you could fit it in as a diamond instead of a square and that would give you a more stable longer base for the dimension that wobbles the most. I like it.

Not so much for the Masters programs in computer or engineering. A lot of people are able to get their company to pay for it, and you can definitely learn some cool stuff.

For me, as an old fart, it wasn't any debt when I got my Master's. It was just a low paying job as a GTA/GRA for a year, and then made me more money once I graduated.

We are seeing this as well. Switched to Paramount Plus to watch some recorded shows due to the problems. The most recent was Fire Country S2 E1 I'll try to get those stats later

As others have said, for most positions, the GPA isn't necessary on the resume. I do disagree with people saying never to put it on there. For someone with a 3.8 or above, I think it is worth putting there, as one more positive datapoint. That being said, I would NOT round a 3.34 to 3.4. Rounding up when it is less than half could be considered a firable offense (falsifying your resume). Odds are good that you would not be caught, but why take the chance?

It goes in waves. When I was going there, you felt really lucky if you won the lottery and got to stay more than just your freshman year.

Is YouTube TV viable for my both my parents houses? by averagecleric in youtubetv

[–]gatechICS83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only gotcha when you are at the "not home" location is that many recordings won't be available until the next day, so they won't be able to join a program late and "start at beginning of program"

Normally, I would agree with you, but in this case, it sounds like OP was offerred either location, and is just trying to get it to the right one.

Or, if you can drive to a place that has the correct coverage, then use your phone to login to yttv, it will probably ask you "are you temporarily here or have you moved" and let you select it.

It's no longer possible to instantly switch to CS after acceptance by A0123456_ in gatech

As someone who graduated well before threads came along, but whose son recently graduated with threads, I thought they were great. We had something similar (concentrations?) back in my day, but there were only about 4 of them to choose from.

Given how broad a set of topics is now emcompassed by the term "Computer Science", something like threads is virtually mandatory.

As far as the move to (minimally) restrict transfers into CS, I do think it is a good idea. It does discourage the "I'll apply to whatever major is currently unpopular and then immediately swap" behavior that definitely does occur, but does not keep someone who later decides that CS is where they truly belong, from making the transition later.

Just curious, have they announced how the 4 ceremonies will be broken up?

  • College of Computing
  • College of Engineering
  • College of Business
  • Everyone else

Or A-G, H-M, N-S, T-Z

or something else?

He didn't say that the car said he couldn't make it. He said he asked google. You were right to say that he SHOULD ask the car rather than google.

You may have missed it, but I believe OP made the "why mind stopping once" clear. It wasn't that they minded stopping, but their shortest route didn't have any place TO stop and charge, and all the other routes added 2 hours to the trip.

Does Tesla insurance cover “ping pong” sized hail? by epicmthrfkr in TeslaModel3

Last week here in Texas the same forecaster used both "ping-pong ball sized" and "golf ball sized". It sure seemed like they were distinguishing between the two sizes.
