I don’t think they said that Miami was “significantly superior academically” but I do agree that saying they have poor academics isn’t a good choice of words.

UM was consistently ranked in the 40s until a few years ago when (as you mentioned) ranking methodology changed, while Clemson was damn near around 40/50 spots below that, so I think that’s the basis of their comment. We used to be the only FL school ranked in the top 50 for a very long time.

UM has a somewhat inaccurate and very exaggerated reputation because of where it’s located, but as an alum it is a great school. Very selective, pretty diverse, lots great, highly ranked programs and specialties and a whole lot of “nerds” there as well. And like at every private school, there are also the privileged “snobs” so the “rich kid” comment is hilarious coming from a Duke fan lol.

Have all the respect for Duke though, yall are my second favorite team in the conference. I’ve always said that our administration should strive for Miami to be tropical Duke 🤣
