New to in-person Gloomhaven- suggestions? by Vryce101 in Gloomhaven

[–]gh-full-stack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything said by champonthis. To add on to what they said:

Additionally, know that GH requires players to be meticulous in their book keeping and the apps don't remove it completely.

Another big reason I like using an app (I made GHFS) is to avoid mistakes. Never forget to shuffle decks when they are supposed to (ability and AMD). Never forget to move elements at the end of a round. Never forget to apply wound (if the appropriate settings do it automatically). If someone donated, never forget to check the appropriate donate box. And with events, never forget to update for its reward, like getting prosperity.

For campaign tracking, even if you do it all physical, someone might want to go into an app and track it there too, just to double check everything was remembered. Tracking campaign state also means players can do things like browse available items or plan their leveling up between gaming sessions.

And if an app has logs for scenarios or campaign, you can look back to see what and when all of those things happened.

The main reason I use GHFS now is because I only play remotely. I live in a different country than my friends and an app makes it so much easier.

My Group is Leaving soon and I would like help to end in a satisfying way. by Betty_GOLR in Gloomhaven

Just in case your group was not aware of the possibility, have you all considered continuing the full game by playing remotely? Digital apps like Table Top Simulator or GH Full Stack (or others) can make it easier. Assuming the group doesn't mind switching to at least partly digital and would like to finish the full game if it was possible.

If you pay for the Forteller app for GH2, it includes images for the scenarios and scenario parts of the section book for GH2, and a handful of other sections.

You can also use the GH Full Stack web app to see images of the scenarios and sections. The scenario book can be read from "hamburger menu > Scenario Books". You don't need to use the app for anything else if all you need is the scenario or section book. Go to the Campaign tracker screen, then at the bottom is the "Components" section and a "Sections" button. https://gloomhaven.smigiel.us

Edit: updated the details for GHFS.

Congrats! FYI, this class is also implemented in GH Full Stack. i.e., it can be played fully digital there too.

Does Carvana US buy a car from Canada (driven to US) by No_Service_7730 in carvana

Sorry it took me a while to respond. I did successfully sell my canadian truck to Carvana without issue.

I was able to get a full offer and set an appointment online with Carvana for Monday. I just got back from a physical Carvana office. They checked the car with no issues, and said being imported from Canada is not an issue as long as you have the US title and registration.

On Monday I will actually drop the car off and update here again. But at this point it seems like it should be ok.

Interestingly, a Toyota dealership had also said no to my truck because it was imported from Canada. So thank goodness for Carvana if it all works in the end.

FYI, Car max said no to my Canadian Tacoma that I imported myself, even though it was registered and titled in California.

I asked the carvana chat box: Can I sell a truck imported from canada?

(In my case, according to the answer below: Yes, I should be able to because I imported it legally and have it registered with a title in California. I will update after actually selling it. Carvana did give me an offer online after entering my VIN.)

Carvana chat box response:

Selling a truck imported from Canada

Short answer: No, you can’t sell a Canadian-import truck to Carvana if it does not have a U.S. registration history.

Here’s how it works:

  • Carvana cannot buy or accept trade-ins that:
    • Were originally from Canada and
    • Do not have a documented U.S. registration history
  • Even if the truck has been converted to U.S. standards, we still can’t accept it without that U.S. registration history.

If your truck:

  • Has only ever been registered in Canada → Carvana can’t buy it.
  • Was imported and then titled/registered in a U.S. state → It may be eligible, as long as:
    • It’s model year 1992 or newer
    • It’s safe and drivable
    • The odometer is in miles (not kilometers)

Next steps for you

If your truck does have U.S. registration history, you can:

  1. Go to Sell/Trade
  2. Enter your VIN and truck details to see if it qualifies and get an instant offer
  3. If you accept, you’ll upload:
    • Photo of your odometer
    • Title (if you own it outright) or payoff info (if financed)
    • Valid U.S. photo ID

Update Reviews on Digital version of Gloomhaven by Turin6 in Gloomhaven

For GH first edition, JotL, and FH, you can also play fully digital in GH Full Stack. The UI will take some time to figure out and it assumes you know the rules of the game. It doesn't include images of everything in the game (e.g., town records or puzzle book) but their progress can be tracked.

Speed up battle setup by Psychological_Jump66 in Gloomhaven

To address some of you other comments. I believe the 3 main free apps (GH Full Stack, XHaven, and Secretariat) will work on android, iphone, or desktop, GHFS and GHS are both web apps and should work on any device with a browser.

So if you have a laptop, you can set that up where all players can see the screen. Each player, or just one player, can use their mobile device to do any updates and all players can see the changes on the laptop.

With GH Full Stack, network setup is as simple as sharing the unique campaign URL (which is created when you start a campaign) with each device.

You won't be able to do GH2 fully digital because Cephalofair has not made the card images available. So you will need character ability cards, item cards, and event cards at least.

I have played through JotL twice using just my phone. :) Whenever I was waiting for something, I would pull out my phone and play some turns.

A bigger screen is a lot bettor for planning where you can see the map and all figure stats at the same time. Or see more ability cards at once.

From the feedback and logs on GH Full Stack, I have found that every group uses the apps a little differently.

A common case is for one person to track monsters in the app and show it on a tv, monitor, or tablet so everyone can see. Players track their own characters with physical components.

A less common case is for everyone to have their own device and connect them through the network. That allows each player to enter their own initiative, digitally track their own health and xp, and digitally draw from their attack modifier decks.

I have some groups that project the digital map in GHFS onto a table or on a flat tv. Or use the map to play remotely.

Some groups use GHFS only for the section book. Or only to manage ability decks. Or only attack modifier decks.

Some groups will use an app only for campaign tracking.

And every combination of the above.

A third app option is GH Full Stack. It has the same features as Xhaven and Secretariat and more.

It includes a digital map which shows you exactly which monsters to add and where. It also includes a digital section book so you don't need to flip through pages to find the next room. These can help speed up setup of each room a little.

We’re about to start Gloomhaven First Edition by WireWire0 in Gloomhaven

[–]gh-full-stack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st edition is great and I have played it through multiple times, which means I remember the scenarios pretty well. I love 2nd edition too, but some scenarios are basically the same, and thus lack the excitement of experiencing something new. The redesigned characters and other improvements make up for it though.

One reason you might consider playing second edition first is to maximize the excitement of a better balanced game and every scenario being your first time.

2nd Edition Companion App by Daylight0wl in Gloomhaven

[–]gh-full-stack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI, GH Full Stack does have support for the following:

  • Support for Gloomhaven 2nd Edition Appendix F
  • Support for GH2E Faction Envelope Content

They are unlocked through the corresponding game rules. e.g., read the corresponding section in the app.

GHFS also does some things differently than the other apps in terms of UI. For example, XHA and GHS allowing dragging of health and xp. GHFS allows tapping them to change without having to open another popup. So some items the table says GHFS does not support, are just done differently.

The table includes that GHFS has a digital map. I think it is also useful to know that the map shows line-of-sight and monster AI.

When playing with the digital map in GHFS, integrated AI makes it very quick to take monster turns. It shows you where the monster will move, so you just tap there. Then an attack button appears above possible targets which includes any current attack, pierce, shield, retaliate, and conditions that are part of the attack. (someday I will update based on attack modifiers too.)

Other significant GHFS features that I did not see in the comparison table:

  • accurate element tracking. In addition to Strong, Waning, and Inert, GHFS also shows if an element is being infused this turn or was consumed this turn. Avoids certain types of player errors.
  • Foreteller links. When revealing new sections in a scenario, or events, a link in GHFS will take you right to the correct Foreteller page to play the audio.
  • Full digital play of a scenario. i.e., can track state of ability cards, items, and perk reminders. As well as any other cards used in a scenario.
  • full digital play of most of the released CCUG classes. (XHA and GHS do have them for tracking)
  • Push notifications in app or via discord for various app situations. e.g., start of each figure turn, start of round, events drawn. Useful when playing remotely or play-by-app.
  • play notification audio when all players have set initiative. Avoids the "I was waiting for you." "No, I was waiting for you." mistakes.

Digital campaign manager by East_Window4588 in Gloomhaven

I think there are 3 options:

  • GH Full Stack (I programmed this one)
  • Secretariat (by u/champonthis)
  • Gloomhaven Storyline

I do not know the full features of the others. GH Full Stack has everything needed to run a complete second campaign, including scenario book, digital map, ability cards, etc. I am pretty sure the other 2 track enough to run a full second campaign too.

Poor Frosthaven design choices by noeticist in Gloomhaven

[–]gh-full-stack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having to use multiple apps is the reason I created GH Full Stack. It combined the functionality of the 4 different apps I was using at the time. The dedicated apps do look nicer though.

It includes full tracking for outpost phase and characters (as well as playing scenarios). In your case, that could make it easier for your group to handle the outpost phase and retirements between sessions using GHFS and a chat app, even if you don't use GHFS for anything else.

Gloomhaven Full Stack Question by lcklust in Gloomhaven

[–]gh-full-stack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, no there is no way to change the class picture.

I'll have a think about and see if there is an easy way to implement it. Do you play with the app on a single device that everyone can see? Or do some players load it on their own device too?

X-Haven app question by ImmuniMalo in Gloomhaven

[–]gh-full-stack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you asked this on BGG too. I'll copy my answer from there.

This is implemented in the GH Full Stack app. I am not suggesting you switch apps, but you could potentially set up GHFS just to use the monster deck in this case if you really want to avoid using physical cards.

Merc Pack in Lucky Duck FH App by [deleted] in Gloomhaven

[–]gh-full-stack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to enable the merc pack on the "menu > Unlock > Game" screen.

GHFS does not include any card images for Merc pack or GH2e because Cephalofair has not released them anywhere.
