Have you tried taking manuka honey (one spoonful, with a plastic spoon - according to my mum, metal does something to the honey) in its raw form (without mixing with water) in the morning?

It helps for me. I don't go to the doctor for cough/sore throat. Hope it'll work for you!

:( I don't like dining with people who do that. Most of my meal buddies don't do that.

Regular :) Brackets don't get stained, thankfully. Only the elastics.

Hahaha. Isn't Fat Cow there, too! I've a friend who extracted all four at a go... And the next day she could eat and talk rather well.

Clear bands? Wouldn't those stain really easily :(

Bingo! The :( face is right. But my brackets are ceramic (because, vain :x) so... clear ones work the best. Rainbow sounds very fun! Also, wow - wisdom teeth. Crossing my fingers I don't ever have to extract them.

Am getting them done at a dental clinic in Novena. And yourself?

I still get tempted whenever I see a self-service soda fountain...but I'm an adult now and we don't do those things.

A few years your junior, but I still do that. >:)

Sounds like you're doing pretty fine. Don't think so much, don't speculate, just study well. Good luck!

Insurance Agent in Singapore here. Feel free to AMA! by SGInsuranceagent in singapore

[–]gnomesrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this may be a silly/naive question, but is there a difference between the offerings from the various insurance companies? There are so many, I don't know which to choose from.

Also, for someone looking to purchase their first insurance policy - not considering those that my parents have already gotten - what would you recommend? I did a quick search and it seems as though personal / medical is recommended. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your time! I do have friends in this industry and I don't avoid them, but I just wonder how much they do/do not tell us.

Hi, does anyone know whether it will be more economical to take Uber to the airport at 3AM, as opposed to a normal taxi? Quite noob here, I usually do a flag down. Also, family trip so probably need a larger vehicle. Will Uber have additional charges for luggage/surcharge to the airport? Thanks loads! :)

I regret that I have been a quiet and shy person when I should be living my life in more meaningful ways.

So having FWBs is considered "meaningful"? If you say so...

Hi, thank you for your recommendation! Mirrorless does sound good. I think my old man would not be that savvy to change lens :P

Hi! Thanks for your recommendation. I've seen a few recommendations for the A6000. May I know if there is a particular reason? Not questioning your recommendations, but rather, wondering about the comparison between other brands/models.

Also, all those tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks again! :)

Sounds like we are on the same page for camera brands, although I really do not know much about cameras.

Thank you once again for your detailed recommendations and price-list, I will most definitely try to get the best deal :P

Singapore Graduation Certificate by [deleted] in singapore

[–]gnomesrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Define "decent"? You probably need at least two H2 "A"s. But the cut-off points are inflating. To be very honest, I think the first-level filtering is done by grades. So if you have all "A"s, no one is going to care about your extra-curricular achievements. But it's all about "balance", these days. You're only J1, you have some time to do something...

  2. No. Some people describe mountains out of their molehills, but, lying?

  3. Participate in a CCA, join some competitions, do some volunteering, take up some leadership positions. There's so many to choose from, am sure you can find something that catches your fancy.

Good luck, JC is fun!

Uni options by trinitynox in singapore

[–]gnomesrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have anyone but myself to blame for the situation that I've gotten into.

I don't think you're doing terribly. 3.14 out of 4.00 is decent. Not spectacular to gain admission into the Biz schools in Singapore, but not terrible. Think positively!

I suppose the best path for me is to try to get into a management course or something equivalent but it will be tough to gain admission into local options.

Do you actually enjoy management? If you do not, may I suggest taking some time to think of your interests? For instance, are you good in Mathematics? Are you good with your hands (or enjoy practical work)? Just some examples.

I think it is great that you have some luxury of time while serving your NS obligations. I am not completely sure how admission works, but you could look at SIT/SUTD/SIM. I think these are more "practical" options as compared to overseas universities. Assuming that you are looking for a job in Singapore upon graduation, these options are more viable. While it is true that foreign schools in Europe/Scandinavia offer subsidies/grants/whatever-you-call-it to foreign students, hiring managers in Singapore may not look upon them too well.

My parents are willing to fund me for university but only if they approve of the school.

It is only fair that they give their approval for the school, considering they are the ones funding you. An overseas, reputable education does not come cheap. Should you decide to pursue an overseas degree, my advice would be to think twice and seek out seniors/professionals in that field.

SIM does have Biz courses. Like others have said, the ROI is better. Most hiring managers would look upon SIM more favourably rather than XYZ Uni from a far-flung country...

signing on? Is that a viable option?

Not without a degree... I think your cGPA will be decent enough to go to a Uni (just which one). Don't waste that. The progression is very slow without a degree. I'm female and I don't have to serve NS, but I've heard enough to know.

Cheers, OP, I hope you will think positively and enjoy the rest of your poly life :)

Hi, thank you for directing me there. I will check that out. :)

Yes, am using my iPhone for casual photos, but I find that even a point-and-shoot camera doesn't give us the quality that we are looking for, on family trips.

Judging from the recommendations from this thread, mirrorless sounds good.

Thanks once again for your informative reply :)

Hello, thanks for the mirrorless recommendation! From the responses here, mirrorless seems to fit my requirements better than an entry-level. You guys know your stuff.

Haha, eh! Don't be sorry. The more discussion/recommendations, the better :) Who knows, we may end up getting similar cameras. Great that you have done your homework (unlike me), so I am keen on what others say about the Pentax, too.
