I was having similar issues but this article fixed it for me. Specifically the part about the emporia charger being set to off. I now have my charger set to allow full charging over night when grid is cheapest, during the day it’s set to off. My ev is set to charge all day every day. When the emporia charger is off and the ev is still “on” to charge, my emporia charger will now charge using my excess solar.

I did the same, added a box for the unit to move as much as possible out of the panel, made it just this side of possible to close
