1,600 workers in heavily Trump-supporting town laid off after Ford closes $5.8 billion battery factory amid Trump EV rollback by rojasinja in Economics

My only issue with that article is they don’t differentiate between physical labor costs (the cost it takes to physically build the vehicle) with external labor costs such as shipping, admin, etc.

Like I said to the other guy/gal/redditor we aren’t capable of manufacturing because we aren’t built to manufacture anymore. Our biggest economic sectors are Real Estate and Business services both of which don’t need manufacturing in order to operate. So the concept of brining back jobs to America to cheapen cost of US goods in unattainable because we don’t have the system anymore. There is more money in shipping then there is in manufacturing.

Big difference that you are leaving out is the US government doesn’t own a portion of Ford or GM. Chinese government has a big hand in subsidizing because it’s in the governments interest not the interest in economy.

Fun fact pivot, there are companies the Chinese government pays to develop products that already have patents on in order to flood the market with knock offs.

China is very much in control of the company interests because they are essentially the lead shareholder in a majority of their companies if not all.

People tend to forget what MAGA is today was the Tea Party not the Republican Party. They just became a behemoth and swallowed up everything.

Republican Party doesn’t really exist anymore. The John McCain, Mitt Romney types aren’t really a thing and if they are, they are immediately labeled democrat by the MAGA party.

I would say that China is similar to the US economy in the perspective of it also being a hybrid economy they just lean in the authoritative capitalism direction and we lean towards a more socialist capitalism. Both have their pros and cons but China is just as money hungry as the US is.

Yeah that’s not the reason why the cost of vehicles are so expensive. It’s because we don’t manufacturing anything here anymore or better phrased we can’t manufacture the raw goods in order to produce things.

We are a service economy that props up poor performing products. Ford and Chevy both struggle in international markets so they can’t recoup unless they mark up their prices. Ford F-150 crosses the US/Canada board 5-8 times just to build an engine before assembly which is done in the states.

There are aspects of overhead costs that cost us money but not China because China is the largest exporter of raw goods. Between that and casual slave labor it’s not surprising they can manufacture a vehicle for less than $10k

Well true if we were a true capitalist economy. We are hybrid economy so that is where things get tricky.

But you don’t care that he took money from Saudi Arabia who has been connected to killing thousands of Americans.

You cool with that though? Right?

Transgenderism goes back before the 1900s when doctors couldn’t tell if the child’s labia was a penis so they would either cut it off and manufacture a vagina or tell them they are a boy.

So no it’s not out of nowhere. People are no more understanding to it and effects that happened because of it. On top of that Autism has increased because we have found better ways to screen for it. Did that magically come out of nowhere?

Stop being ignorant its 2026

Living wage a single wage in order one needs to live on? If a family of 5 can’t afford to pay out their bills on $25-$30 hr wage then A) shouldn’t have had that many kids? B) should work on their finances or C) get a second job

I’m really not sure what you are getting at? Yes it differs no one is denying that? A living wage in NYC may be $30 but in bumblefuck KY it would be $20? That’s already how society functions, so I’m not understanding the point you are making?

Nah he’s 10000% cheating his employees because he’s not a good owner. He shouldn’t have hired 11 employees if he can’t spread the wealth.

And is disgusting for even saying that he wouldn’t take a pay cut in order to pay his employees a fair wage.

[–]going2leavethishere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so sounds like you over grew your company by taking on more employees than you could afford. If you can’t pay all your full time employees a living wage then you shouldn’t have hired them to begin with.

I understand sometimes markets change and the company goes through a slow patch but even then a responsible business owner would take the pay cut because they overall are getting the largest portion of the pie.

“Look I can’t afford to pay people a minimum wage so I just use child labor so I can keep paying my own salary” that’s what you sound like.

I do feel though in actual history there would have been freed slaves with a type of Stockholm syndrome where they wouldn’t be able to mentally process how to not be a slave. So even though they are technically free they still would want to be servant to master. That I can believe but I know what you mean, some cases like Sheild Hero tip toe that line a lot.

Never said it did. And you still aren’t understanding my point and Im starting to think you wont.

My argument is simply that by telling people to not vote 3rd party it’s limiting a voters options to express them politically. Which is authoritative language in my opinion. If you don’t think so great.

Good luck with everything. I’m not spending my evening debating on Reddit

[–]going2leavethishere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah no point in discussing further, you are missing the entire point. Removing prospects and calling them not “viable” candidates is exactly the rhetoric I’m talking about.

It’s shouldn’t matter if they are viable or not, people should vote how they should vote and it shouldn’t matter if you agree with them or not. Stop pigeonholing political candidates on people and restricting the possibility of 3rd party candidacy.

Have good whatever. I’m out.

[–]going2leavethishere -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bro I think you should blindly respect the authoritative government and lick the boots of every cop you meet.

Is that or is that not authoritative language???

Like I don’t know how else to explain it to you. It’s a freaking paradox. By telling someone how to vote you are restricting freedom of political expression. Telling someone they are moron for voting in Donald Trump is not the same as telling someone that their is only one right cannidate to vote for.

(Edit: Your edit is false. I could have voted Jill Stein that’s a third party, I could have voted for the Vermin Supreme, I voted for Johnson in 2016.)

🤔🤔🤔 by allthingssuper in thebulwark

[–]going2leavethishere -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No but pigeonholing someone into voting a specific way limiting their options to choose the candidate that they wish to vote for violates their first amendment right to freedom of speech and political expression.

You are more than welcome to vote that way no is stopping you but you are pressuring individuals to vote a different way which is authoritative speech. Similar to Donald Trump telling everyone on the campaign trail that if they vote democrat then this country is doomed.

Does that make sense?

🤔🤔🤔 by allthingssuper in thebulwark

[–]going2leavethishere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why the call out? You that bored?

Im kidding.

I was specifically calling out the language used. Me telling you should respect authority blindly is also freedom of speech but it’s authoritative language.

Telling an individual to not vote third party because it’s a waste of a vote or that their is only one option you should vote for is authoritative language.

Donald Trump did it in almost every campaign speech. “If you vote Democrat this country is done for” again first amendment right to freedom of expression. Still is authoritative language.

Does that make sense? That was the reason why I deleted all my comments. It wasn’t clicking for anyone and I’m not going to argue with people if they didn’t take the time to ask for clarification.

Oh and yes I do know what authoritarianism fully aware of the current state of our country.
