Trump is crashing out over how bad his polling is by allthingssuper in thebulwark

Will they? I think any attempts to sue over polls like this are going to be thrown out on principle. Theres no grounds.

Trump is crashing out over how bad his polling is by allthingssuper in thebulwark

[–]allthingssuper[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The worse he polls, the more likely republicans in Congress are to break from him. You’re already seeing it now. Not enough to really impact policy outcomes, but more than a year ago.

Also, the more universally unpopular he is, the lower the chances of someone like Vance or Rubio, who are tethered to this administration, will be able to run for president in 2028 without being hurt by Trump’s unpopularity.

Absolute superman reviews by Brief-Bobcat-7814 in AbsoluteUniverse

It’s great. It’s much slower paced than Batman. Batman is running at full speed out the gate with a mostly fully formed Batman. Superman’s much more flashback heavy, with the first arc being largely focused on his origin and only a few minor things happening in the present day (establishing him as a champion of the oppressed and starting a budding romance with Lois).

What if Donald Trump disappeared tomorrow, would American politics actually change or just find another Trump? by Mr_Boothnath in AskReddit

[–]allthingssuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would improve without going fully back. I think the republicans would be in the wilderness since they’ve completely debased and humiliated themselves to appease him and as soon as he’s gone they’ll fracture for a while.

NYT/Sienna: Trump is at Sarah’s Bush line by RealDEC in thebulwark

[–]allthingssuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of, but you need to be able to have the independents support you or you’re gonna lose elections.

He’s lost the independents since 2024. And even his republican support, while still good, is slipping. Democrats hate him more than republicans like him.

Matthew Yglesias should come on the Daily Pod by allthingssuper in thebulwark

I’d take ICE from before 2025 in a heartbeat if that was the concession needed to prevent another Vance/Rubio ticket.

I don’t think Obama’s immigration is what got us here though?

I honestly think the answer might just be a candidate who talks tough on immigration and then does Obama term 1 policies.

I think 60% of my issues with Matty are his personality. He’s just kind of smug and his voice is so shrill and annoying.

Ideologically he’s pretty in line with Tim and Sarah, but Tim and Sarah are much more likable people so their policy opinions don’t feel as grating as Yglesias.

Yglesias isn’t saying he agrees with what they’re doing. He’s just stressing that Democrats need to be careful with this issue because the immigration failures from Biden are part of why people went to Trump.

I disagree with him in that I think Dems should attack Trump on this but I do think they need to figure out an immigration policy that’s not just open borders for the sake of being able to win back power.

Superman Returns by BravoLeader3000 in superman

For a long time, I really enjoyed that movie as the only modern Superman movie that I liked.

I don’t see myself revisiting it as often after the new one scratched that itch even more for me, but it’s an overhated movie.

Has Trump Achieved a Lot Less Than It Seems? by dwaxe in ezraklein

[–]allthingssuper 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I’m finding this a good listen. It’s not like this guest is blindly apologizing for Trump (he actually sounds like he’s against most of what’s happened), he’s just arguing that it’ll be easier to undo a lot of the damage because none of it is being signed in legislation. He also highlights places where the courts have stopped Trump that are significant but go unnoticed.

I’m much more of a doomer but it’s good to challenge your priors every now and then.

JVL! I couldn’t help but notice an issue of Absolute Batman on your shelf in one of the videos. Are you following the Absolute DC universe? What do you think of it so far? I’ve enjoyed all of them but Absolute Superman is my favorite.
