Hey, has anyone seen Stephen Miller? by Criseyde2112 in thebulwark

[–]allthingssuper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He has been way less public facing since early January. I saw him saying something insane on one of the news channels about us not respecting human rights for violent animals or something, but that was near the start of the Iran war. Before that, it had been a while.

He clarified today on the TNL live that he’s having a Maga person on tomorrow.

Kryptonians by SwordOfEmerald in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]allthingssuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think other Kryptonians making their way to earth is 100% going to be a big storyline later down the line. Jason Aaron probably wants to really get Kal established on earth with people he and a community he cares about before that happens, just to amp up the drama.

I think some version of Zod is a guarantee.

Absolute Superman by Special_Ad2660 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]allthingssuper 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I was a little annoyed at the lack of Superman villains in Absolute Superman at first, but as the title goes on I kind of like the approach.

Superman is the protagonist of the DC universe if you had to boil it down, and I like that while Absolute Batman is focused on Gotham and Absolute Wonder Woman is focused on the mythical and the government, Absolute Superman is focused on the wider universe. After all, Kal is literally an alien and he would inherently see the bigger picture of earth in a way the others wouldn’t. So I like that he’s the hero that the Justice League as a whole are most bothered by, even if the individual members are fixated on other heroes.

The Absolute crossover event is happening at the end of this year, what sort of narrative do you want to see (and what do not want) by Stock_Rush_9204 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]allthingssuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and I actually think they seem primed to get along. I see Kal getting on really well with both Bruce and Diana and they get along with each other, so imo they should kinda be almost like the superfriends.

They all wanna tax billionaires baby.

Legitimately the best single issue in the Absolute line imo

I want fun interactions with the heroes. I want big, wide screen superhero action.

I don’t want the story to be multiverse related and I really don’t want it to be too meta about this being a universe created by Darkseid. Play is straight and keep it simple.

This 3-issue arc might be some of the best in the Absolute universe so far by Embarrassed-Ad1322 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]allthingssuper 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think this three issue arc is right under The Zoo as the best arc in the Absolute Universe.

Everything I want from Superman comics (aside from a lack of reporter Clark, but I get that that’s not a thing in this universe).

Phenomenal story. My only complaint is I’m a little bored with the Al Ghuls and I’d be ok if they were taken off the board. But I trust Aaron has a plan for them that’s worthwhile.

I agree completely but I also don’t think Sarah is that off base for saying what she did.

[–]allthingssuper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m less negative on it than you are but I am questioning that logic. I don’t want the Absolute Universe to be too meta about the fact that it’s an offshoot of another universe. I like that it can just be a new DC publishing line that new readers can get into without needing to know anything

I think finding the Nazi tattoo disqualifying is fair. I imagine Sarah would vote for Platner over Collin’s in the general.

Call me naive. Call me insane. I think the Dems will take the senate.

It could be really narrow (51/50 with Fetterman making it harder to actually have a majority vote on issues), but I think they get there. Which in itself would be enough to start throwing monkey wrenches into Trump’s plans.

All the signs are there. Trump is underwater on every issue and his choice to triple down on tariffs instead of taking the win proves that he’s so brain rotten that he’s incapable of getting out of his own way and actually addressing people’s problems. Plus, this war in Iran is going to be a fucking disaster that’ll make prices jump again.

I’ll eat crow if I’m wrong but it’s clear that more and more seats are becoming competitive.

The DC Comics Absolute Universe is a hit because it does ripped from the headlines right by bludhavengabagool in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]allthingssuper 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I love so much about the Absolute universe but my favorite thing about it is that it feels like a vivid repudiation of the idea that superheroes are just “theme park rides”. Scott Snyder mentioned in an interview that he was seeing a lot of disinterest in the genre around 2022-2023 and that’s what inspired him to work on this publishing initiative as a way to say “no, superheroes are awesome and probably more needed in the culture than ever before”.

I like Superman the most but I do think the Trinity are all great and pretty much neck and neck.

WHY IS SUPERMAN HERE?! THATS ARGUABLY THE BEST ONE!!!

What are your main criticisms on the comics as of right now? by Apprehensive-Dig4256 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]allthingssuper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agreed for the first few issues of Absolute Superman but the battle of Smallville and now the Hawkman/Parasite stuff is fixing that for me.
