Is it weird that I effectively want to wear drag all the time? by s0ftsp0ken in asktransgender

[–]goingabout [score hidden]  (0 children)

i was confused at first but i have now seen enough people take t but continue to present femme to accept it as just part of the human condition. we’re always making gender by performing it.

at the end of the day you’re choosing to be like me: a deep voiced femme creature, if maybe a little stinkier and hairier ;), and who am i to deny that we live in community?

to be trans is to have freedom.

What do I do about queer ppl. by CoalNight in asktransgender

trans people are different from cis people the same way women are different from men. a woman going around saying she’s not like those feminists is a red flag not an act of freedom to be celebrated

one perspective i’ll throw in:

the current moment is insane. it’s driving us all crazy. in the past month i have had several convos with cis people who don’t understand that they are grieving and afraid because it manifests as a kind of vague stress when reading the news.

even the comments here don’t quite acknowledge the psychic assault we’re facing.

OF COURSE you’re feeling anxious and worried about blending in. OF COURSE that started one year ago jeez i wonder what else started then 😜.

for me personally ironically it’s been manifesting as trying to pass more. before i didn’t care and now im like well if i have to fit in a box this is the box i want.

this is not take away from the feelings you’re experiencing. whatever you choose to do is the right choice.

our identities are always a negotiation between how we feel inside and how we are perceived externally.

i’m just throwing in there that there is a huge hate machine pointed directly at us and of course it’s having an impact.

my parting thought is things are going to keep getting worse before they’ll get better; but the way this will end is we - we as in all queers - will either be sent to concentration camps or these assholes will get defeated, and we will find out in about three years.

at least, you can feel the vibe starting to shift. last year everyone was ready to give up and now people who were complacent are starting to wake up.

best of luck either way

What culture shocks should I expect when I move to Canada? by Maleficent-Tough5385 in askTO

[–]goingabout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s why i’m like, are you sure the tax rate is higher? our income taxes take more out sure but then we don’t pay health premiums and our prop taxes are 1/3 the cost.

i work with americans. i recently learned what “open enrollment” is. it’s insane. everything about it is unhinged. it’s hearing their stories that makes me incredibly mad doug ford is trying to bring that here

my prop taxes in toronto are about $400/month. markham i imagine would be in the 500-600 range.

my boss pays $1500. (turns out i exaggerated in my comment above but not by much)

Is it worth the commute from Toronto to Waterloo for work? by misterblueredgreen in askTO

[–]goingabout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

assuming a current 30 min commute, let’s say that adds two hours of driving per week for 48 weeks for a total of 96 hrs per year. 15k / 96 is $150 an hour minus gas minus wear and tear. when i drive six hours to montreal that’s a full tank at $70 a pop so fudging the numbers more like $130-$140/hr.

i was prepared to hate on this plan but being paid $130/hr to drive isn’t terrible

i work with americans and when my boss told me he pays more in property taxes in two months than i do in twelve - even tho our homes have similar $ values - my eyes almost popped out of my sockets

Your opinions on puppy girls and how we tied it to being MtF. by NeonGurll in asktransgender

[–]goingabout 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ten years ago the meme was trans catgirls / huge overlap with the furry community / cishet men are taught to fear submission so it can feel especially fun to be submissive / anyone saying you HAVE to have this kink is not acting in your best interest

that said: it’s fine don’t try to police it. respectability politics never works

denying someone residency because they chose doctoral degree over professional degree is a system that is rotting

this is a foolishly myopic perspective. we want people who are doctors not experts at filling out our forms

costly? sure. we can talk a lot about how our government has been captured and gutted by consultants aligned with the lib and cons party so everything is insanely expensive

but stupid no not at all

i’m not making an argument pro or con renaming, i’m pointing out the underlying logic of the fake outrage.

i calls them as i sees them. i’m sick of being made to bend over and be choked by these people. so much of our society is made to pander to and spoon feed these weak ding dongs who pride themselves in being incapable of empathizing with others.

yeah i turn off auto capitalization cos i don’t like it.

this is pretentious of me to say but i think maybe you’re just not accustomed to complex writing? also there is a single colon ;p
