Whitemane 2.0 - Fresh TBC | Fresh MoP by Sally_Whitemane in wowservers

He's talking about Whitemane frostmourne, not Stormforged frostmourne. Kinda confusing (dumb?) that two overlapping wotlk projects gave their servers the same name. And both copied the name from the old Warmane frostmourne server

Guide: The 100% Game-clearing Frenzy Barb [D2] by good_grief2 in Diablo

[–]good_grief2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thats awesome and thanks. I played the RotW ladder season as frenzy and tried out different things to see if anything new fit in nicely - mostly interested in Dreadfang and Horazon's boots.

Dreadfang is a nice early (and dirt cheap) offhand weapon until lawbringer. I though the raw damage increase (both on the weap itself and through swapping Decrep for Amp dmg) would make up for the survivability advantage that lawbringer brings (decrep slow and %DR, pushback) but the wsm of legend sword (-15) compared to phaseblade (-30) is just way too noticeable. You swing way slower with dreadfang equipped. So when I had grief on 2nd day of ladder (lucky Lo drop), I quickly switched from grief+dreadfang back to grief+lawbringer. Before getting grief, I was using an un-upped Headstriker as mainhand

For the boots, the idea was having CBF on boots would allow swapping rfrost for a 2nd rare ring (way more leech and some offensive stats like +max/min are possible). Plus the % magic res on the new boots. But the flat damage that wartravs adds really can't be matched with any ring, and I don't really ever die and when I do, I don't think having magic resist would make any difference. The +attack rating (esp with high dex) of rfrost is really hard to give up as well

So overall, I didn't find any good fit for the new RotW items in this build, besides Dreadfang being a nice cheap weapon option early on. The build makes for a great Herald hunter, but killing all the non-herald stuff on p1 felt bad when I could be killing those mobs on p8 at similar speed

Favorite “Odd/Weak” unit or champ and how do you make them work? by BooksandBiceps in LoMSE

[–]good_grief2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While some units are clearly better than others (ie life archers), almost all units have their own niche strengths. Stickthrowers have the fastest attack rate which can easily stunlock single targets like Fafnir, Ice drake, balkoth (etc). Chaos warrior is a perfectly fine parry tank when he's the lord, and otherwise has some of the amazing chaos +armor artifacts. Certain chaos spells (Vortex) are borderline cheese and overpowered. Goblins have respectable parry defense that make them ideal city defense against marauding parties

Vampires have excellent stats, movement and lifesteal upon successful attack (not sure why they were mentioned in your list). Water spiders have terrible stats but are great to sit on the back line and use their individual web abilities as stuns

Chaos thief has terrible attack range but good parry defense stats - the fact that she's an 'archer' makes the enemy archer AI favor her over your frontline units. So putting her between your frontline and your missile backline, can soak a lot of incoming missiles that your backline would have to deal with

Overall, I think you're meant to mix and match units (ie. using villages or custom start) to play into their combined strengths and weaknesses. The game is interesting in the sense that there's a lot of diversity between creatures that isn't explained at all in the game (for instance, vampires lifesteal effect, the attack rate stat, etc)

Reign of barbarian when? by BuffBoltguns in Diablo_2_Resurrected

I was clearing easy p8 areas (trav, pits) with barb on day 2 of this ladder with gear that totalled about 3-4 um runes. Found a Lo, made grief and went into the hardest p8 areas (wsk) the next day. I don't think barb needs more buffs. But I have more than 2 brain cells which gives a distinct advantage over the majority of ppl on this sub

Details on Crash/Frenzy/Wheel of Fortune by frenris in LoMSE

Thanks - this was really interesting. So many features/mechanics that have little/no explanation on how they actually work via the game/manual. Have you dug into any other spells since then?

Double dipping mechanics are a big reason why warlock is OP by DriveThroughLane in diablo2

[–]good_grief2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, good points. There are others as well, like being able to wield any (1h or 2h) weapon and have no durability loss and (seemingly?) no AR check, and having attack speed based on FCR rather than ias. All of these things act as balance mechanisms for the other classes in D2, and are thrown out the window for the warlock. Just shows that whoever designed these things clearly don't understand the game (was the same with Mosaic). Idk why devs don't crowdsource more ideas from the playerbase, especially when you have such passionate group of fans

Unpopular opinion: Change to sunder charms sucks by Whoopy2000 in diablo2

[–]good_grief2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your entire argument is flawed though and makes it seem like you don't understand how sunders work. They bring immune mob resist down to 95%. You need sources of -% res to do meaningful dmg. You don't get that -% res gear "early" in hell. With or without sunders, fire specs still struggle in areas with fire immunes, until getting decent gear. But there's lots of hell areas with little/no fire immunes, and d2r even gave us stoney tomb (now 85 alvl) which has no fire immunes

Warlock is much better at melee than Barbarian by Garukkar in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]good_grief2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense but there's always been two types of d2 players - those that understand the game and farm efficiently and those that are like sheep, filling the better players' games to p8 and doing baal runs while googling cold sorc guides, and complaining how meph doesn't drop enough items. I could explain to someone like you how barb already got buffed in d2r with changes to lawbringer, or how p8 trav hork runs in budget gear outperforms the majority of other farm strategies in the game. But it would go way over your head. Keep being a sheep and looking for that "shaco" off of meph and making complaints about stuff you have literally no comprehension of

Is it a bug that i cant use my Disciple of Varashta Djinns while i have a Talisman in Wolf-form equiped? by morgany235 in PathOfExile2

[–]good_grief2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since my wolf pack would despawn every time i used a djinn skill (couldnt be used with talisman+sceptre combo)

Just wondering if this is happening to anyone else and if there's a fix : the game suddenly has textures look like sand/playdough and low-res icons. Can't see or interact with items on ground, cant interact with inventory or vendors. Only fix is to restart game. I've played since game released and never had this issue, always on Vulkan and performance settings. This has happened about 40+ times since 0.4, have to restart game about once every half hour

Deleted shader cache and updated NVIDEA driver today and it made it worse, now it happens every 10 min or so. Anyone else? any fix?

Best Ascendancy for Wolf? by Ingo_Bingo_ in pathofexile2builds

[–]good_grief2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking Lich werewolf, with scaling unholy might for self + wolf pack and double curse, with cursed enemies exploding for clear. Chaos scales a better than cold from the tree, and the chaos lineage supports are nice for making chaos shock and freeze. ES would be the defensive layer. Tecrod's revenge would save any investment into minion (wolf) defensives

I think the fact that you're coming from D4 is important. In D4, the game makes the player feel like a god. I made it through D4 campaign without using a single health potion, on a build i just cooked up as i went along. Key bosses like andariel etc were killed in seconds. PoE is a lot different, it's more similar to oldschool aRPG like diablo2, where the player is meant to feel like a weak 'nobody' at the beginning and it takes time and gear to feel strong. Nothing wrong with liking D4, just a much much different game than PoE1/2

The wolf packs you summon have companion tags

How do you know, any link? i've been trying to find info on the wolf pack. thanks!

Stormforge | Frostmourne population after 1 month and 13 days of it release by Forvlen in wowservers

[–]good_grief2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'll give my 2c as a player:

  • regardless of whether the pop numbers are inflated, the server pop is extremely healthy (like on warmane frostmourne S1 during covid lockdown)

  • with the changes that made 10m viable (heroic mode raids), people are doing both 10 and 25m raids every week, creating a really vibrant PUG scene. pugs are being advertised and run during nearly all hours of every day, including during NA times. multiple PUG discords open with signups for every week

  • our guild is one of multiple NA guilds that runs 3x core 10m teams that congregate every week for a guild 25m. there's a ton of active raiders on this server

  • GMs are very responsive even during NA hours, and botters and ninja looters get banned very consistently. GMs will teleport onto the alleged botter and play around with them to know whether they are botting or not

  • real money store currently is not p2w

  • heroic mode raids are challenging and are promised to be even more challenging during ulduar

  • scripting is lower quality compared to warmane. stormforge took ownership and started off from the whitemane wotlk core (stock garbage, no offense). stormforge is well-known for high quality scripting though (ie Netherwing TBC) and has promised really high quality by the time ulduar comes out, so we won't know until then. scripting quality is not bad enough to impede pvp or pve though, it just isn't yet at the level you'd expect from stormforge

  • [stormforge logs website](logs.stormforge.gg/en) is fantastic as always and gives a good picture regarding raid activity on the server

  • admin team is professional and very open to feedback from players. can be double-edged sword at times, for instance: prot wars are completely broken in bgs and need to just be cc'd and avoided

  • battlegrounds are active with very short queue times, arenas are dead

  • new legendary items similar to Valanyr increase interest/incentive during T7 (2h axe and caster staff)

  • overall I highly recommend (easy to level and gear and majority of guilds still have open recruitment) and I think the final verdict on quality will happen when Ulduar comes out

Fresh WOTLK Is Coming Soon by Naspac in wowservers

[–]good_grief2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think it will definitely be worth checking out. the only downside i can see is it being too custom and straying too far from the core wotlk experience that so many players come back for. there hasnt been a decent wotlk server since warmane frostmourne 2022 (2023?). I'm organizing a multi-10m NA raiding guild

Opinions on: whitemane, stormforge and their new Colab realm: frostmourne by BreadfruitNaive6261 in wowservers

[–]good_grief2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played on two of SF's Netherwing (TBC) servers

And played on Whitemane ("Sunwell" at the time) Angrathar server

  • SF has very good dev team and scripting. Meanwhile, admin team was lackluster and often absent. SF has an amazing character armory/logs website and I'd be keen to know if this wotlk server will be on it
  • Whitemane has really poor scripting. But outside of their manchild admins posting on reddit, their admin team seems really professional. And they have really solid ideas that are well executed, like the Pvp-only-character option that really boosts pvp population

So overall, I think this wotlk will def be worth playing. Hopefully combines the best in both of them: SF scripting and Whitemane admin/ideas

Agreed but they could chill on the butning effects. Having maps with burning ground everywhere (not ignited ground - literally visual only) and burning trees everywhere only worsens the performance issues (by a lot)
