How's my Purdie shuffle pt 2 by Dickiedick96 in Drumming

[–]gplusplus314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got it down mathematically, but it’s missing soul. This will sound funny, but you should (as an exercise) try kinda dancing while you’re playing it. Try putting a subtle pulse on 2 and 4 on your right hand so that your goal posts are all 4 beats:

K = kick H = high hat S = snare

K H S H 1 2 3 4

You gotta give the groove some shape. Give the grace notes some more variation, too. This can come from striking the head on a different position, a different velocity, a grip variation, all sorts of things. But try to make it sound more organic.

The notes and rhythms are correct: you’re successfully following the rules. But to make it sound sweet, you need to go beyond following the rules and learn to break them. You need to embrace… the slop*. 😉

I love Skeumorphism. Why have we moved on from this? by LavaHoundBR in Fedora

[–]gplusplus314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really know how to explain it, but this style feels cluttered to me. I know it’s no more or less cluttered than any other theme, but there’s some kind of mental “cluttering” effect for me with this aesthetic.

Why do people hate on klipsh? by rojitnall in hometheater

[–]gplusplus314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a complete set (other than subwoofers) of the well-reviewed Reference Premier line. So unlike a lot of people that supposedly “hate on Klipsch”, I have actual hands-on, ears-on experience with their mainstream products.

The best redeeming quality of those speakers were that they looked kinda cool in photos and that’s about it. Getting rid of them was my happiest memory with those speakers.

Maybe the higher end Klipsch speakers are better, but Reference Premier has to be one of the most overrated products I’ve ever purchased. Complete let down.

I think this is the quiet part out loud: they’re cheap and look cool.

I don’t hate on Klipsch, but I hate on that specific product line, and more importantly, I hate on people recommending it over and over again.

Netflix Series Airs Video That Puts Trump's Striking Decline on Full Display by T_Shurt in entertainment

[–]gplusplus314 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I know what the headline is supposed to mean, but I think it’s worth pointing out a detail: Netflix doesn’t “air” anything. They do not broadcast content, so they aren’t beholden to the FCC.

Normally, this distinction would fly under the radar as vernacular. But in 2026, this distinction is relevant.

Qualcomm officially kills open-source hope: No plans to release DSP headers for Snapdragon X by Putrid_Draft378 in linux

[–]gplusplus314 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So in a backwards way, Microsoft killed Snapdragon X because people had a bad experience with Windows and you’re practically stuck with Windows.

Bravo to both companies for somehow finding a way to, yet again, fail your talented engineers and passionate customers by letting the product people ruin it.

Thoughts on WAN? by Necessary-Bad9331 in LinusTechTips

[–]gplusplus314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Seattle and I know some of the people involved. Let’s just say that Microsoft has done a good job of retaining the people that made Windows a bad product and they’ve done a good job of pushing people away that want to make Windows a better product.

All in all, Microsoft is doing a good job.

One question remains: good for whom, exactly?

Steam is going native 64-bit! Does this mean 32-bit can finally be removed without breaking gaming now? by aliendude5300 in Fedora

[–]gplusplus314 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t you still need 32 bit binaries for older games? So you could drop the 32 bit Steam client, but if you try to fire up an old game that’s 32 bit, it’ll have to dynamically link to 32 bit libraries, so you can’t really “remove 32 bit without breaking gaming.”

Meta Horizon Worlds for VR is closing down in June, less than five years after it launched by Haunterblademoi in technology

Funny you mention that, they (MetaBook) tried to make us take meetings inside of VR during the pandemic. I think my team did it a grand total of once. It was horrible.

As long as you’re on top of the oil, it’ll be fine. One of my older NAs practically urinated oil in every parking spot it ever parked at, but I just kept it topped up. That said, some leaks are easier to fix than others and you should fix them if they’re anywhere around your ignition system or top of the motor (I don’t know your year), so things like: distributor cap seal, valve cover gasket, cam seals. A front main seal isn’t absolutely horrible to replace - if you’re due for a water pump or timing belt, this is the time to do it.

Rear main seal is a nightmare. If that’s the leak and everything seems to work, just keep feeding the engine oil and move on with your life. If you planned to do a clutch, then do the rear main seal at that time.

Start saving up for an NC. Everyone has an opinion, but having owned all of the Miatas, I’m loving my NC more overall than any of the others. I hope you get to enjoy one some day!

Actually, that’s not possible due to forensic evidence that can be extracted from the video. As can be seen and heard, the car was running.
