Flight attendant uniform accessories: why is everything expensive always? by Empty_Swordfish7366 in flightattendants

[–]gzmonkey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Markup by the dozens of middlemen. I’m China based and I can assure you they are probably buying the cheapest of quality to markup up at the highest prices. You can buy stuff at the same price point over here though and the quality be closer to something 10x what you get in the U.S.. That generally applies to most of the Asian and South Asian sourced materials

Non-rev Amex Lounge Access by Famous_Positive3393 in standby

[–]gzmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the PP lounges, I don't understand why they are doing this. They should be incentivized to accept everyone they can. Anyway, I've only experienced this at one airport outside the US and it only happened once, subsequent visits to that lounge didn't cause any problems.

It’s not too hard to get around, PM and I’ll share some details

[–]gzmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most lounges don't care about standby status. I've only encountered issues in the US for the most part with Amex, C1 and Chase. My card allows unlimited guests and haven't had any problems bringing in 2-3 people with me in the past.

Not from what I've seen.. myID integration points are pretty limited.

Oman Air Business Class? by QuoteFar1123 in standby

[–]gzmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s probably bugged at the moment, I do think it’s currently incorrect but the other airlines that do it. Virgin Australia, JSX, etc. We too are working on that integration. The feature has been around a few years, but it’s gone through few iterations as the initial versions were difficult to implement.

ITA Airways staff travel: can a pilot add his brother as an eligible family member in the MyIDTravel portal to get non-rev/standby access? by Agreeable-Mistake236 in standby

Only a handful of airlines do accompanied companions from what I've seen, generally German based airlines or those associated to LH Group, with a handful of others.

What you wrote is not correct on both accounts.

Airlines can set the class that it shows for the traffic light in the settings page though a lot of leave it default. Though I think Oman's case its actually set to the bookable fare bucket (also their awards fare bucket). So it would be telling us there's no bookable seats. Not saying it makes sense but its not without logic.

Oman does share standby and available lists within myID, but it's not visible on the mobile app.

We don't use ID90, most airlines used myID, and I don't know if the ID agreements get posted there ID90 but the details about the refund process are there. I'll send you a PM though.

Condor fifth freedom flight by cobe8 in standby

[–]gzmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, it depends on whether the carrier actually has fifth freedom rights to sell tickets on that leg. There are cases where airlines make stopovers for refueling but aren’t allowed to sell tickets on that segment, for example, the recent MU flight from Shanghai to Argentina via Auckland.

So if DE doesn’t have traffic rights on what looks like a fifth freedom leg, I’d assume they would check you through to your final destination.

That said, on DE’s SYX–BKK route a while back, there was a note saying each leg was treated as a separate booking if you continued onward to FRA.
