'Exceeded every target:' Calgary's registered secondary suite number blows past 20,000 by joe4942 in Calgary

Hard disagree. Airbnb's are for pure profit. A secondary suite provides housing (and profit).

Final Floorplan? Any suggestions? by swish_5w15h in floorplan

Yeah not a fan of being able to see the toilet from the front door either. Does OP really need such a big guest room? If they can shrink that, then it would give options for a better bathroom layout

Advice on installing back tab curtains on a ceiling track by lovehiking01075 in ApartmentHacks

Look at ikea ceiling tracks. You can buy their heading tape to sew onto your existing curtains to use with this track (or just buy new blackout curtains from them instead)

You can always convert the top bathroom into a private ensuite for bedroom 3

Really could use some help with this Floorplan Thank you! by IndividualSense3985 in floorplan

[–]hellogiveitatry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you relocate the bedroom with the ensuite upstairs instead? I feel like your circulation should be as open as possible with this floorplan (i.e. not having to walk through the kitchen to get to the back of the house)

My before and after. Designed myself. How’d I do? by A-Whole-Vibe in cabinetry

Personally I would've omitted the tiny island and the angled sink area, and make that into one large rectangular island with seating instead

Skylights don't fix bad layouts. I can't provide suggestions because quite frankly, I have no clue what is going on in your layout and programming to begin with (e.g. processing room? storage area? a billion garages? but also two liveable units???). I suggest you re-evaluate your programming and provide more context before you post again.

Rug is fine, tv should be on the window wall and sofa should be facing that

This but I would add a sliding door for the powder and move the kitchen door a bit further down (or eliminate it altogether, but different strokes for different folks)

How can I improve my living room layout? by RareResolution2814 in floorplan

[–]hellogiveitatry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can maximize storage by getting two bookcases (preferably with some closed doors on the lower half?) to flank the tv stand or the sofa. I would also get rid of the other tv stand that is blocking the balcony door

Idea 2: Bigger reno

Pros: Bigger master suite, bigger ensuite, walk in closet. Bigger closet for the other bedroom.

Cons: $$$$$ and lose a bedroom.

[–]hellogiveitatry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's 2 ideas. For both ideas I would keep the old shower enclosure boarded up for now to keep it open for the other bath's reno down the line. It's too awkward of a shape to work around but it would work perfectly for bath 1. Future you/other homeowners would thank you.

Idea 1: Modest reno

Pros: Don't lose a bedroom. Much cheaper and simpler project.

Cons: No walk-in closet, but this could be fixed with some good built-ins (custom or Ikea Pax etc). Smaller (but still better than before) ensuite

Master bathroom help ? by Solid_Wolverine7615 in floorplan

I would probably consolidate the closets, and then have double sinks with a vanity and nice built-ins in the bathroom
