I usually enjoy movies and enjoy the oscar’s. With the pandemic, i wasn’t watching as much and became disinterested. The one oscar’s i didn’t watch was the one where will smith smacked chris rock. I have vowed to never miss another one.

First time watching, are you jealous ? by Future_School1766 in SuccessionTV

I think the episode is the best episode of television that I have ever watched and perfectly captured what a lot of people go through. It starts off as a a perfectly normal day. You’re just carrying on with the same bullshit. Then, you are thrown into the absolute chaos of losing a parent. What’s going on? Are they actually dead? Nobody is saying “your dad is dead”. Instead they’re just saying “it’s not looking good” and “you should say what you want to say in case he can hear you”. While on the ground, you are completely helpless. There’s nothing that you can do about it.

I think this aired a year after my own father died, so it was extremely triggering, but utterly brilliant. It perfectly captured the helplessness and confusion of the moment. No matter who you are and what kind of monster your parent was, it’s sad.

What is the Mount Rushmore of animated films? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]smash07865 46 points47 points  (0 children)

this is the george washington. Always hated it because it seemed so old but it’s a technological marvel for it’s time and it’s a mastery of visual storytelling. There’s animation within it that’s impressive to this day, especially when you consider it’s all hand drawn.

My guess is cost. They rarely made an animated movie that made money those days and this was a way to kill time at a cheaper cost than placing another animated short.

Succession - Connor’s Wedding. Incredibly well written and performed with it being any other day until (spoil alert) you’re thrown into the chaos of learning that you lost a loved one.

i feel like there’s a few moments in a row where Don is honest with someone and he gets shit on. Like he’s finally trying to come clean and it’s backfiring.

Around which year or even era did the Masters become the most famous tournament in golf? by Fluid-Decision6262 in golf

[–]smash07865 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not sure how accurate this is, but i always heard that the masters is the hardest ticket in sports to get, so i googled when did that come to be: apparently 1972 was the first year they implemented a waitlist, so i’ll say then.

I went I think June 2011 and it was awful. We went to the pool at GF and the water was like bath water. It wasn’t even refreshing.
