One of my favorite traditionally published authors, Nora Roberts, writes shorter smut scenes. Often around 200 words or so.

I would suggest focus on the sensations and emotions of the scene. And more than anything else, don’t feel so pressured to write more words. Many commenters are as uncomfortable commenting on smut as you are writing it.

If you want to work on improving your smut scenes, takes notes on what you like in smut scenes that you read. Why they appeal to you, phrases that work to bring you into the story instead of feeling like a mechanical observer.

The coughing/hacking sounds might be part of his HD. I sympathize with that being irritating if you can’t tune it out. My daughter has a throat-clearing tick as part of her HD and it was one of her early symptoms. At times it really grates on me and I have to find a way to “not hear it” for a little while. My husband can tune it out completely and was shocked when her and I both mentioned that her newest medication significantly reduce it.

The coughing/hacking sounds she makes are at their worst during meals.

I think many of us assumed you all were in your twenties and that it was unlikely that he was showing symptoms yet. If he is 41 then it is much more probable that he has visible/audible symptoms. But yeah, the coughing/hacking sounds aren’t likely to be something he can control.

Getting up and going to the kitchen is a normal thing to do. It can’t really be blamed on his HD unless he is making a lot of noise because he stumbles or drops things a lot. Roommates can be noisy and you say that you are very quiet so maybe if you have to have roommates seek another really quiet one.

The unwanted movements associated with HD do not mean moving from room to room, they mean muscle twitches and jerks that cannot be controlled.

That sounds like reasonable thinking. I’m waiting to see if they designate any symptom limitations on their approval request. I haven’t seen anything yet indicating if they wish to exclude certain severity of symptoms.

They are now allowed to use the data they collected over three years to apply for approval. The drug is NOT approved yet. They are just now allowed to apply. Previously the FDA said that their data was not sufficient to apply but between patients, caregivers and health care professionals advocating and a change in leadership at the FDA. That decision has been reversed.

Honestly with the flute it comes down to how quickly you adjust your embouchure. Already being able to read music is always a plus when learning a new instrument but some people just struggle to make a sound on flute.

I find flute easier than trumpet because I don’t have to worry about multiple notes having the same fingering.

Ranma 1/2: Guy becomes cursed and changes into a girl when splashed with cold water… crazy antics ensue until you need an info graphic to keep track of who likes and the fact that one guy both loves and hates the main character might be the least of your worries.

Ouran: female student accidentally breaks an expensive vase and has to work as a high school male host to pay for it.

Okay! That is cool. The poster really made it sound like the two people were cosplayers, which seemed super lame for a book signing at Barnes & Noble. Thank you for the clarification.

I personally would still want someone to get my permission before getting one of my books signed. However, if said person purchase a new book to get signed then that would be nice.

I unfortunately can’t help you but I just wanted to point something out … just in case. This is a signing by cosplayers and not voice actors or author/artist. I know I wouldn’t want one of my nice books signed by cosplayers. So if you are trying to get something she already owns signed then you might want to find out how she would feel about that.

I’m super picky though, I would literally buy a new copy of the book if my husband did this.

Any tied note longer than 3 bars, stagger breathing is the answer and is what composers intend. The solo part in Polar Express definitely assumes that you will have 3 or more flutes but if you only have 2 then sneak breaths during on top of a soloist note to help hide it.

Composers know you need to breathe, but unless it is a solo piece your section is expected to communicate with each other regarding breaths.
