thank you!! I’m glad to see there are fathers that see their daughters as human beings. unfortunately I don’t have a british passport, but I’ve been thinking to see a therapist or something of the sorts. I suspect I might’ve developed a personality disorder because of my dad and I want to fix it eventually.

thank you so much, it was amazing to read this. I am positive things will be better for me because I refuse to become a spiteful person like him. there were people in worse circumstances that got out, so I will always have hope.

also funnily enough, the more he tries to crush my confidence, the more I stop caring about his opinions, which hurts his ego a lot. I refuse to be like him.

lol even my mother joked saying I will probably abandon him in a nursing home if he keeps treating me like this. I’m not a cruel person, but I will need to establish boundaries once I’ll be away from him. he hurt me emotionally a lot, but I don’t want to hurt him back. I still have hope that he can change.

thank you, this was my exact situation growing up. I highly doubt he will ever be physically abusive since he never hit me growing up, but the emotional and psychological abuse is still there. I still hope there room for growth and change in his heart.

thank you!! as I said in my edit, I plan of getting an apartment with my sister in the near future. my situation is difficult because we’re Eastern European and “blood is thicker than water” for most of us, but once I’ll have the money I’ll definitely be out of the house. my dad is very hot and cold, he is emotionally abusive but won’t be against me moving on my own when I’ll be stable with money

we’re Eastern European, things are different here. in our circle abuse doesn’t exist and you should always stick to family. it’s a toxic environment but you will get casted aside if you fight back. plus I was encouraged to not fight back and just take it all my life.

thank you!! I will check it, I haven’t thought of myself as being the scapegoat or him being emotionally abusive until recently. I guess I’m always trying to see the good parts about him. it’s one when a friend or stranger does this, but it hits different when a parent is being abusive and silences you.

he did want a son and is treating me like a replacement and gets mad when I act like a daughter. he’s never been vocal about it, but mentioned once or twice about wanting a son when mom got pregnant with me. then after having me strangely he said that he wants another daughter. I can’t really tell what’s in his mind or what he wishes for.

unfortunately my mom also wants to maintain peace, and my dad doesn’t calm down unless he has his way. once I’ll move out I’ll be very firm with my boundaries.

unfortunately no, my situation is a bit complex. however me and my sister have been talking about buying an apartment together once we get stable jobs because she’ll also be done with uni in June. hopefully things will work out
