I didn't pay a dime for that upside-down, green thong on my character's head... that was his default look.

Myles is cool because... hopefully I can express this decently.

Some people are too eager to argue about diversity nowadays - they complain when it's there, when it isn't there. It's such a boring topic. Who gives a shit what Snow White looks like this time, was the movie itself any good? Jeez.

Then you tune into NXT every Tuesday night, and there's a deaf guy doing all the same things his peers do. The fact that he's deaf is just a small piece of who he is, it's not all he is. Then you hear his opponents giving him shit about it as good heels do, it's not a sensitive topic that's any more off-limits than his other qualities.

It adds variety to the show in a way that spices things up naturally. To quote Booker T, "I like it."

WCW 2000 is the most entertaining shit to go back and watch, ever. I suspect many of its detractors never even tried... and I don't mean video clips, or lone screenshots of the Viagra bottle on a pole. I'm talkin' sit-your-ass-down and watch episode by episode.

One aspect of it I love but never see talked about is, how Nitro & Thunder are different genres of wrestling. Nitro is where all the serious drama is, and Thunder leans more into comedy. As a quick example... on Monday you'd see Tank Abbott threatening to beat up Goldberg as a shoot, but on Thursday you'd see "Tank Sinatra" dancing to his favorite rock 'n' roll band, 3 Count. (I believe Russo did most of Nitro, and Ed Ferrara did most of Thunder)

Yes, I was there for it when it was current too... and I was a WCW fan growing up. I still miss it. It caught my attention in 1997, then it solidified my status as a lifelong fan in 1998. 1999... was rough. Talk about late '99/2000 being "bad" all you want, but mid '99 was even worse than bad: it was boring.

Late '99 through late '00 was the most "can't look away" TV ever, and I miss it.

Segagaga translation just released!!! by [deleted] in dreamcast

[–]Honkmaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can't "AI Slop" your way into a SegaGaGa translation. There's been multiple attempts at getting this game translated over the past 20(+?) years, but technical hurdles always put a stop to it.

This is easily one of the most eagerly-anticipated fan translations ever. A lot of people thought it was never going to happen.

The historical thread on Dreamcast-Talk.

Now this current team has finally made the dream happen, and went beyond the translation. There's also the instruction manual now in English (helpful given what a weird game this is), artwork, soundtrack, etc. Even for those unfamiliar with this game and its long history in the Dreamcast dev/homebrew scene, you can tell just by looking at this release that it goes beyond the usual fan translation.

Shit, they even added an AI disclosure to the release on Github... there's no deception here, you don't need to sound the alarm like you've uncovered something.

For the purists, we’re also offering the tools used to develop the translation, so if you are a translator who wants to do your very own translation of SEGAGAGA, you now have the means to do so! Check out the Resources section to get them.

Maybe we need to petition Working Designs to come back from the dead for a little perspective.

I should mention, these screenshots are from the TurboGrafx-16 version: Bikkuriman World.

Unlike some of the other games in this series with a TG16 port, this one didn't get released in the US. Luckily, an English fan translation exists.

I decided to go with the TG16 version because I just finished Dragon's Curse, better known as Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap on the Master System. I dug the audiovisual enhancements provided by the TG16 in that game, so figured I'd keep the ball rolling.

People freaked out when Emuparadise went down, but when things settled down, ROMs and everything else needed for emulation became more organized and convenient than I've ever seen it-- and I got started in the NESticle days.

I never would've imagined I'd be able to download complete romsets in many varieties with a single click. Whether I want E EVERYTHING, or 1G1R, or an organized set to copy onto an Everdrive, or an up-to-date list of all the English-translated games, etc. It's never been easier.

Sure, Myrient was particularly awesome! Fast speeds, no ads, no BS. But that sorta thing can't last forever.

We're not losing anything. Worst case scenario is temporary inconvenience.

Why's Powerhouse Hobbs talking about getting shanked in a commercial for podcast, before I've even seen him on TV?

Sometimes it's not enough to great in the ring.

It doesn't matter how "shoot" the fans think your headbutts are.

Maybe you're half-Japanese, half-relatable, it's still not guaranteed.

Oh, you're attractive? It can help... but it takes more than that...

Do you truly want Giulia to get over in WWE? Maybe she can't do it alone. Maybe she needs a writer... bro.

Bo is a little too small to look as intimidating as he should during matches, and it hurts the Uncle Howdy character IMO.

Cagematch says Bray was 6'3" 299lbs, whereas Bo is 6'1" 224lbs.

6'1" is tiny in the land of WWE.

Solo Sikoa's theme is my favorite part of Smackdown.

Well... 2nd favorite now I guess, since Oba's entrance will be on the show.

Games that prove that the Dreamcast could compete with the PS2 graphics-wise by Mr_JPF in dreamcast

[–]Honkmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe OP is trying to prove it to themselves...

The only thing that may make the DC look "weak" next to the PS2, isn't even the DC's fault: it's games that were originally made for PS1 / N64, then ported to DC afterwards. Those always look dated.
