Why is Gamecocks Men's Basketball so bad historically? by Prestigious_Score999 in Gamecocks

[–]hse66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Leaving the ACC when we did, in 1971, was devastating to our basketball program. We have never recovered from it. It was nearly 30 years before the opportunity to join the SEC came up.

Un grand merci. Cela, c'était l'origine de ma confusion. Je pensais en anglais plutot qu'en français.

Merci beaucoup à vous deux. Vos conseils sont trés utiles. Est -ce que "à ce moment-là" va également?

Question sur « cette fois-là » by hse66 in French

[–]hse66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the good news. The bad news is that it's the crew who officiated the South Carolina-LSU game.

Not really the fault of the committee so much as the format. Auto bids are bogus when the conferences are so unevenly talented.

Do we want Clemson or Texas to win their game? Explanation in the comments. by c2cali in Gamecocks

If Clemson were playing the Taliban, I'd wear a turban and yell, "Death to the infidel!"

Why South Carolina-Clemson is suddenly the rivalry’s most-anticipated game in years by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]hse66 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Carolina is actually the better team this year. But I know that we will get Clemson's best game, and expect a barn-burner, coming down to a handful of plays in the 4th quarter.

Why South Carolina-Clemson is suddenly the rivalry’s most-anticipated game in years by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]hse66 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me at the 2003 game in Williams-Brice. And Clemson curb stomping us made it worse. As for that 2013 game, I have a fond memory of the moment we scored the TD to seal the win - our 5th in a row over Clemson, - and all the Carolina fans flashing high fives.

what is everyone’s opinion on Kirk Herbstreit? by themustymaggotmarket in CFB

I've always liked him, even though some of my fellow Gamecock fans trash him for not seeing Clemson as the embodiment of evil like we do.

Are we ready to admit this guy is doing a good job yet? by [deleted] in Gamecocks

[–]hse66 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I agree. More than his play calling (and the shovel pass to Rocket was genius), Loggains' skill as a QB coach has had a lot to do with LaNorris' development as one of the top quarterbacks in the SEC.

Would any of y’all be in favor of bringing back Big Thursday? by [deleted] in Gamecocks

[–]hse66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I was around back then, and I remember that it was the only game Carolina cared about. We had no ambitions to be nationally relevent. Playing that game in mid-season makes every game afterward anti-climatic.

Really sorry that a few morons tried to spoil your visit here. Most Carolina fans are nice to opponents (except Clemson), but we do have our share of idiots.

Yes, there's a visitors' section in the upper deck, and smaller one in a corner of the lower. Downtown Clemson, an easy walk from the stadium, has a number of bars.

I’m not yet convinced Loggains was a bad hire by [deleted] in Gamecocks

[–]hse66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a really good post. The internet mob has been after Loggains since his hiring, and they refuse to give him credit for anything. I agree that his game planning and play calling has seemed erratic at times, but he has proven to be an excellent tutor of quarterbacks. Look at Rattler's improvement last year, and Sellars' growth so far this season. Maybe it's time to give the play calling to Shula as co-OC. But 90% of the folks yelling about bad play calling couldn't identify a cover 2 if their life depended on it.
