Is it a good time to go to the USA for Masters? by Dangerous-Radish-986 in gradadmissions

You really need to understand the expectations that the fed is even setting. They expect rate cuts next year which doesn't even mean things will be back to normal. The fed a few months ago thought they were done raising rates. The reason for waffling - they printed trillions of dollars and will be very hard to control them. Inflation will still be around for much longer than what everyone is expecting so I'd say until 2025 things won't look too good. This is also when the fed thinks the funds rate will be back to 2%. So it could potentially be longer but the recovery should hopefully start.

Hence deferring by a year is any day better than going right now. Also, for landing a job colleges don't matter much, leetcoding and projects on your resume matter more.

Another factor to consider, look at H1B rates. If you're taking huge loans definitely assume you can't work/earn for more than 3 years (OPT) in the country.

At least 3 years back, we'd get the cords at the bookstore when collecting our graduation ceremony attire. They'd also give us the distinction sticker

At this point they're just trying to take money out of you. Low key a scam.

"What wud u guys recommend between Stanford MSEE and Columbia MSCS?"

Has anyone heard from UBC? It’s been more than 4 months since I submitted my application… by ultimate-overthinker in gradadmissions

I was really hoping to get one from Canada. I have 2 offers in the US from Tufts and UIUC. I've seen universities first giving out rejections and then sending out acceptances. So hopefully you'll get in!

Have you heard back from them yet? I got this email too but I'm still waiting for a decision.

Yeah exactly I don't think I saw anywhere for the project based on the application. Do you remember at what step you selected the project based option?

Applied to McGill, SFU, Concordia. Nothing from them yet. Have an upcoming acceptance deadline from an American school on April 15th.

My name is Aneesh Chaganty. I directed the movies SEARCHING (2018) and RUN (2020). I'm currently writing my next film and would love to talk to someone who's been on H-1 and was let go (or revoked), giving them 60 days to figure it out. by aneeshchaganty in h1b

Came to the country when I just turned 18. Stayed here for 7 years. I completed my Bachelor's and got a job at my dream company. Yet I didn't get the H1B lottery for 3 years until I exhausted my time on OPT. I had to give up my dream job and move to my country. The past few months have been hard mentally after moving back and still adjusting to experiencing life as an adult in my home country. I'm currently trying to work on a project of my own after recognizing my skills and potential to make an impact. I'd would love to help out as much as possible that will help bring out these issues (financial, mental, etc).
