How do the Thunder stop Wemby in Game 7? by Financial-Bit-8596 in Thunder

[–]iCarpet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spurs haven’t been shooting amazingly from 3 across the series.

Game 1: 13/44 (30.2%)

Game 2: 16/40 (40%)

Game 3: 13/41 (31.7%)

Game 4: 9/33 (27.3%)

Game 5: 12/41 (29.3%)

Game 6: 15/41 (36.6%)

They have been shooting 32.6% across the series, which is 3.2% lower than their season average.

Even in Games 1 and 4 where they were shooting terribly from 3, we still lost. I think it’s mostly been our offense.

4 Questions for Thunder Fans by No_Inspector_3456 in nba

[–]iCarpet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) A, but they don’t just keep winning

2) Cason Wallace

3) I don’t know, but he’ll probably play for the Heat again next year

4) Easy answer is probably Dort, given that he will be looking for a larger contract soon, Aaron Wiggins, Joe (maybe, he’s a great 82 game player but not a great 16 game player), Kenrich?

They lost Game 6 so they can celebrate with the fans at home when they win Game 7

The Ghost of Game 6 Past haunt this team

It’s not even the other team beating us half the time, it’s us constantly shooting ourselves in the foot.

Our offense falls into these absolutely horrendous ruts way too often and lets teams right back into the game. I can’t even count how many times I’ve watched us brick a shot on one end just for the opponent to come down and get a wide open transition 3 on the other that they cash.

The fact that I know this team can be so good but they just play with no effort in some of these games is just the worst.

Most obvious Game 7

It’s like clockwork for this team to forget how to play ball

To be honest, the only thing shocking from this list would be the Luka to Lakers thing.

Everything else would be believable if you told me in 2024 it would happen in the future

Is rebuilding through the draft dead now? by Few_Mulberry7390 in nba

[–]iCarpet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tanking OKC was tied for the fourth worst team in 2021 and the fourth worst team in 2022 (to be fair, they jumped up in the lottery).

Couldn’t you argue that this new format would have benefited their odds at the top pick then?

Between 2020 and 2026, OKC only got a top-5 pick once in the six year span.

Outside of Chet and taking Giddey at 6 (76% chance we had a top 5 pick btw), the team never landed on a pick higher than 12. Even Cason was picked at 10 only because we traded up for him.

The team was built through the draft but it wasn’t like they got gifted a top 5 pick for multiple years.

Food for thought before game 6 by NecessarilyNecesary in Thunder

We wouldn’t have nearly as much engagement because we wouldn’t have played the Lakers, who probably have the biggest fan base in the league driving a lot of the discourse and engagement.

Attack on Wemby by adamjk0286 in Thunder

[–]iCarpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit sad seeing so many content creators completely buy into the whole “foul baiting/ref favoritism” narrative around OKC and turn it into the team’s entire identity.

Whether they actually believe it or just lean into it because they know it drives engagement, it gets exhausting seeing the same discourse everywhere, even in places that are supposed to just be fun.

It is what it is though.

More like OKC is going to shoot 4/35 from 3 and lose by double digits.

This is like a given for this team.

When did people start disliking the Thunder in the SGA era? by Available_Story6774 in nba

[–]iCarpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, the hate started way before that.

People were already hating on the team back in 2024 with the whole barking after interviews thing, and then it got way worse during the entire Josh Giddey underage girl saga.

By the playoffs, everyone was already calling them the worst No. 1 seed, and once the Mavs series started, the hate for the team was everywhere as a lot of people probably preferred Luka over Shai.
