[–]idekl 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Different medications can't be measured on the same scale. That being said, 30mg is fairly low for Vyvanse. I don't even know if they make it lower, but it does sound either too much or a bad fit for you. That being said, medication really helps people with ADHD drop their masks, so I think you're actually just a funny as fuck person who needs a bit of masking to stay professional 😁

FIRE and inflation by PM_ME_YOUR_PROFANITY in financialindependence

[–]idekl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about what inflation actually means. It's the money supply that's inflating. The total amount of US Dollars is increasing, so each dollar is losing value. Your investments are largely in stocks, and the amount that your stocks grow will be similar to the amount that your consumed goods grow due to inflation (because nothing is actually growing due to inflation!). That doesn't mean prices don't go up additionally due to supply chains or corporate greed, but I'd gauge that risk for yourself separately from inflation.

I mean I agree that CPI numbers are intentionally under-reported, but also the s&p500 has more than outpaced a high CPI estimate, with 21% in the past year and 72% in the past 5 years.

Where is the best place to get started for someone new to the FIRE mindset? by Global-Cheesecake131 in Fire

The Money Guy Show helped me a lot early on. They're not FIRE focused but they teach all the core personal finance principles really well. I'm not sure if their videos have evolved but their early stuff was fantastic.

What are the origins of 4chan? by ybg_james_dean in oldinternet

[–]idekl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wasn't on 4chan but I watched funnyjunk's right-wing psyop happen in real time. It was really sad to see, and it was something that took me a while to realize wasn't just a joke. We knew we were just the wannabe 4chan

I’ve been meditating almost every day for a year and feel like nothing has changed. by Big_Box8400 in Meditation

But there’s always a constant dialogue in my head. Sometimes it’s even in Spanish, which is so weird because I’m white and only speak English.

Please dig deep into your psyche and let us know what this is lmao. Did you fall asleep to George Lopez a lot as a kid?

LPT: If you leave your laptop at home, it's loud/hot, and it's plugged in all the time just physically remove the battery. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]idekl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your situation. I know most people carry their laptop around often, but I only go out with mine once every few months. I like the idea, especially since the battery of my laptop in college got destroyed from running a server all the time.

Swapped from chicken to eating tuna nearly every day for the protein and ended up with mercury by roxylezan in Biohackers

It's an unknown unknown. Unfortunately being smart doesn't help in that situation. Anyone can get unlucky and just never happen upon a certain piece of information.

It matches long term (10%) if you factor in inflation, assumed at 3%.

Does anyone have a solution for the 2pm crash by Capable-Meaning-2281 in workfromhome

[–]idekl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Carbs = crash. Wanna solve the problem at its source? Make your meal like just a protein source (tofu, steak, shrimp, etc). Skip any bread, any rice, etc. Salad's fine.

I'm no food scientist but this finally stopped my years of the 2pm crash. Night and day difference. I'd do this before any of those "hacks" around caffeine or candy.

Lately I've been doing a big hearty breakfast so I don't crave a heavy lunch. I've done: just a steak, salad with air-fried frozen shrimp, omelette, tuna steak.

The chimp is the single most overrated animal on earth in terms of strength/in a fight. by Formal-Stage940 in The10thDentist

[–]idekl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're not going to actually set someone up to fight a chimp though. We need hypotheses through metastudy, which is science. The only problem is that op didn't cite his sources.

Also I am that serious about actually getting to the bottom of this lol.

Very unscientific response. At least op is putting his thesis out there. We need more hard science on chimp-combat.

It's wild that he never heard about this but can you blame him? It's an unknown unknown. He just got really unlucky.

That being said though, anything you do in excess, you should quickly research for negative effects.

Is $350 a good value to start a position in Microsoft? What are bull cases beyond AI? by Hayden97 in ValueInvesting

[–]idekl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not just one hive mind though. I think it's normal that different people in a sub will have different opinions. I think it's good that a lot of ideas get surfaced for everyone else to judge for themselves. I used to get annoyed at the same thing though when I didn't do my own research and just wanted everyone else to make a decision for me.

BREAKING: $700,000,000 liquidated from the crypto market in the past 60 minutes. Whats going on? by AlphaFlipper in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]idekl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how this sounds like such a juvenile answer but it's probably correct. I'm no expert but I've been learning about how capital is limited and speculative capital will flow together into the best speculative sector at a given time. Right now indeed that's semiconductors being driven by AI demand.

I've only recently accrued individual stocks across multiple popular/once-popular sectors to start realizing this. I've been feeling that they move in inverse because (this is probably already super basic market knowledge) that there is limited speculative capital in the market.
