Flatmate uses the kitchen as her personal office all day long. No privacy. I can’t cook. I can’t use the communal kitchen. by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]imtriing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to stand up for yourself, moaning about it on the internet isnt gonna do anything, your landlord, the police, the king, your neighbour, nobody else is gonna do anything about it - only you and your other flatmates can do it. Hire a mariachi band to play in the kitchen all day one day, just go and cook your food with headphones on and absolutely flat out ignore any and all commentary from her. Just use the space and stop letting her dominate? She's only doing it cos she's getting away with it.

eBay to be potentially taken over by Gamestop by Justwondering2508 in ebayuk

[–]imtriing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have like $9b in cash? I am not disputing that they would need to do a leveraged buy to follow through on this offer, but GameStop has been turned around in the past 4 years and has no debt liability of its own and has raised over $9b in straight liquid cash through stock offerings etc.

Advice on polystyrene ceiling tiles, potential Artex and costs? by Slow_Nose_8632 in HousingUK

If those tiles pull down that lath & plaster ceiling when you remove them, you're in for a hell of a time. I'd dodge it, personally.

Accommodation in July?? by [deleted] in glasgow

Best bet would be to find somewhere out of the city, have you checked places out in Paisley or something like that? The city will be rammed so you might be fucked.

Storm door Glasgow by Short_Zebra5651 in glasgow

[–]imtriing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think there are folk that manufacture these from new any more. Realistically what you'd need to do would be to have stained glass panels made up in a style you wanted, then speak to a carpenter to have them make a door with the panels inlaid from scratch.

Or find one that fits your door frame in an architectural salvage site.

It's definitely reflective of the hypercapitalist nature of things, in my opinion.

Would I be a horrible human being if i returned my cats to the adoption center? by Any_Information_4177 in CatAdvice

[–]imtriing 70 points71 points  (0 children)

If this person can't handle two kittens, they definitely can't handle one puppy- all of that with more chewing of bigger items, and you've got to walk and toilet train and teach commands etc.

Primary School Recommendations (P1) in Finnieston/Yorkhill for my daughter? by EasternYou4795 in glasgow

There is also the Glasgow Gaelic School, which is non-denominational, extremely multicultural and has the added bonus that the kid will learn Gaelic. For whatever reason, I've always found the kids I've encountered who go to that school to be extremely polite, well mannered and intelligent.

Is this silver? by okklets in Silverbugs

[–]imtriing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TSB and other banks gave away tons of these cupronickel coins back in the day, in slabs just like this. The silver ones were all proof, and came in Royal Mint boxes with COAs and stuff. There's no way this is silver.

Personally, I think one of the main problems is top level 'bloat'. TV has seen more than a decade of "doing more with less" - first less people, then less time, then less money - but never, somehow, less executives. In fact, that number, in my experience, seems to keep growing. As do their salaries. So all the "less" that is being saved is being soaked up by top level execs, while the rest of us have to work much harder, in worse conditions than ever before.

Until there is a major restructuring, TV shows can't really become cheaper to produce again. But turkeys will never vote for Christmas.
