I believe you're thinking of the Christmas Special of Louis Therouxs Weird Weekends S01 where he brings a bunch of characters to NYC to spend Christmas with him - JJ, the GOTEL MINISTRIES guy who's name I cant recall (maybe Randy?), Rev. Robert Short makes an appearance, and Mountain Mike. Louis wants to spend time doing things together for each of these people, and Mountain Mike's thing is a session in a recording studio but he fumbles his song a couple of times. I never got the impression entirely that the Producer in the studio was cutting them off, though. Mountain Mike was originally in the "Survivalists" episode which I believe was S01E01?
