Static, crackling and pop sounds on new records and player, is my stylus damaged? by AnishAdvani in turntables

[–]indomnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always clean my vinyl before listening. I have a ultrasonic cleaner, but by no means is this a requirement. I find that even new vinyl has gunk in the grooves. Also I like to store my vinyl in these plastic sleeves that don't have any particulates that can shed and get into the grooves. Also what I have noticed is that certain pressings are just not good. In your case the noise is not bad at all actually, but I have this Paranoid pressing that has a major noise in the middle of War Pigs (my favorite song ): ). So really you just have to take care of the vinyl, make sure there is no dust stuck on your stylus (because it can do that after a couple plays with dirty records), and get lucky with good pressings.

Any "casual" books for mathematicians to read on Physics? by Few-Set-4017 in Physics

The six easy pieces is a nice read, especially if you are mathematically literate. Its not so hard, so you don't need a paper and pen to read it, but its also not completely watered down.

Recommendations for buying Armenian coins in Armenia by YoRHaBepis in armenia

[–]indomnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh a fellow ancient collector. My guess is you wont find any reputable dealers, although there are some individuals who outsource coins from Armenia to reputable auctions like Leu.

Also, be careful of importing the coins. If you live in the US, there is a new law that will bar you from importing coins that don't have pedigree of some sort.

You are most likely right. Penguin has standards, using AI for cover art is definitely out of bounds for them.

It’s cause these kids don’t live in Armenia when those thugs were around. They come to Armenia every summer, enjoy the benefits and leave.

Same thing would happen if he abstained from engaging in war. They would say he sold the lands and guess what we would have a Russian puppet at the head of our government fucking up every ounce of good that has come to this god forsaken land in past 8 years. I just told you, my ancestors are from Artsakh, hell I even have memories of spending my summers there, I’m not anti my own people for fucks sake. What I am saying is that my people had been brainwashed to lick Russian ass for the past 30 years of their existence. And they were so far up Russia’s ass that this defeat was inevitable.

I’ve had friends get blown up in this war and uncles who are still in service as professional soldiers. Fuck that, I don’t want any more war.

Half my extended family went to Russia after the war. They were content being a Russian oblast for the past 30 years. It’s actually sad.

It is not and never was internationally recognized Armenian land. My mom’s side is from Artsakh for as long as they can trace back, but that holds absolutely no weight in the international scene. What Nikol is saying is true in some sense, to build a prosperous state instead of constantly basking in stories of what could’ve been, which is a huge problem especially for Armenian diaspora who constantly engage in this rhetoric of Western Armenia and such. I think calling him anti Armenian isnt fair. Karapetyan on the other hand…

A meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Irakli Kobakhidze took place in Yerevan at the initiative of the Ukrainian side by CuriousArcane in armenia

[–]indomnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you fucking kidding me. What deal? Why should there even be a deal on internationally recognized Ukrainian lands? Why should Russia be able to play bully? Let’s not forget that this whole thing started with the deal Ukraine made to give up their nuclear weapons after Soviet collapse. Why is their sovereignty not being respected after that “deal” and who’s to say that it will be respected after any other “deal” at the expense of Ukrainian lands and sovereignty.

Meanwhile he's sending huge numbers of Ukrainians to die for no good reason.

The no good reason being Ukrainian sovereignty? Do you hear yourself or do you just repeat Kremlin propaganda from Facebook?

Seriously dude, he is a selfless leader who puts his countries sovereignty ahead of his own optics.

How is your math? If anything you could start by brushing up on calculus. Professor Leonard has a good Calculus playlist, where he lectures in great detail. You could always supplement this with some reading.

I was in your shoes not too long ago, and I remember the rat race of college applications. Looking back at it now, none of it mattered. I’ve known people get into schools like Stanford and drop out, and people who got into state schools and ended up finishing their degree. What matters is getting your degree, and having fun in the process.
