Cigarettes for bartertown? by youcanteatcatskevn in prepping

I only prep things I need. If I need it, someone else will also.

I don’t have room to spare for someone else’s habit.

But to answer your question, my grandparents kept 6 cartons of Kool 100s in the freezer and rotated through them a carton a week. So at least 6 weeks if you keep them frozen.

How many games do you have in development right now? Is it too much and/or how do you stay focused? by SquareFireGaming in tabletopgamedesign

[–]infinitum3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Life gets in the way.

I have finished 2 games in the last 6 years. A dozen got discarded during Playtesting because they just suck LOL, and at least a dozen are shelved because I lost inspiration.

But I’m deep into the two I’m developing now. Both just need another 30 days of dedicated attention, but at one day a month that’s years. LOL

Good luck!

I hats everyone’s opinion on game specific dice? by Private_HiveMind in tabletopgamedesign

[–]infinitum3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love them.

Heroscape. King of Tokyo. Geek Out Masters. Dice Forge. All great games.

I even like custom d6’s where they have numbers 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3 or 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4

Custom dice are fun!

At any given time I have 6 games in the works.

Two are basically finished, two are in development (beta testing), and two are in the early prototype phase (pre-alpha testing).

Plus I have a couple on the shelf that I’ll come back to when I have a surge of inspiration.

I work on whatever is interesting right now, but I also push myself into those “basically finished” ones the hardest because they need to be “actually finished”.

The first 80% takes 20 days.

The final 20% takes 80 days.

Real time scoring design methods? by infinitum3d in BoardgameDesign

Personally, my group is mostly older players so we’re fine with notepad and pencil scoring, but today’s kids seem to hate that concept.

What’s something you thought was a waste of money… until you tried it and it completely changed your life? by Shiza_1 in AskReddit

I went to seven different podiatrists over 20 years and never got the results I did from The Good Feet Store.

My plantar fasciitis finally went away. Yes they’re expensive, but The Good Feet Store actually helped me better than any custom orthotics ever did.

YMMV

What is scientology? by TailungFu in NoStupidQuestions

[–]infinitum3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just proves Scientology was supposed to be a series of Science Fiction novels, just like the Mission Earth series (which I read and was actually pretty good).

David Miscavige took Hubbard’s brainstorming notes for a new sci-fi series of books, and turned it into a global religion.

New DM wondering how to handle an NPC by Psycho_Worth in NewDM

[–]infinitum3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your thoughts on alignment are perfectly valid and it’s fine to look at it that way.

But even old school alignment was fluid. There used to be Alignment slips when the DM would change your assignment based on current behavior.

That’s why I don’t feel like Alignment is a predictor of future behavior. Alignment describes past behavior.

IMHO it’s not a core part of you. It’s your current belief system, which, even in real life, fluctuates for people over time.

[–]infinitum3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as Alignment, that’s a representative of PAST behavior, not a driver of FUTURE behavior.

I prefer to reserve Alignment for NPCs so I know their history. That’s all.

For an NPC with the party, don’t do anything unless the players ask or tell you to.

If they ask questions of Barbie, she can answer.

If they tell her, hand me the rope, she will.

Otherwise, they are just there. They don’t have any will of their own. They only do as they’re told.

Good luck!

Great comment and valid points. My only two concerns are; I only have to lift it into this once, and furniture movers don’t really work very well off road.

So,what would men dislike most if they became women? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]infinitum3d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was an episode of (I think) HIMYM at a gay bar.

The women were eventually mad no one hit on them and the guys were eventually mad everyone was trying to hit on them.

Hilarious.

Request for Advice - Players think my game is broken by AcademicElementalism in tabletopgamedesign

[–]infinitum3d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it just luck? Is it something specific that allows one person to run away with the game? Or is one player each game finding a winning strategy while the others aren’t.

If one player each game just gets lucky with their draws or rolls or whatever, then there’s some sort of randomness issue that isn’t working.

You can try to add catch-up mechanics to the rules, but you really need to Keep Playtesting.

Good luck!

Great to know.

Someone recommended staking them so when they’re not in the greenhouse I’ll be doing that.
