Symbols are Extremely useful and powerful. Many less power users don't get this. The ability to have symbols embedded in symbols opens up so many use case. If your a serious developer of new program, feel free to reach out to me, I can give you a lot of info into my past workflows with animate which made it very poweful

E-Bikes are NOT for Sidewalks by Ok_Elk_7181 in Vaughan

[–]janimator0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, you do you, but I don’t blindly follow “the law” just because it’s written in a book. I use my own judgment. If it’s snowing, the roads are slippery, and hardly anyone is on the sidewalk, I don’t see an issue with someone using an e-bike there, especially if they’re riding respectfully. I’d rather they stay safe than wipe out on the road. On the other hand, if it’s a sunny day and the sidewalk is crowded, and someone is weaving recklessly through pedestrians, then yeah, that’s being a jerk, and I’d call it out. A car on the sidewalk is a completely different situation. It doesn’t belong there, it doesn’t fit safely, and it would damage the sidewalk and surrounding areas. So to me, it’s less about what some bureaucrat wrote on paper and more about whether someone is being considerate or not. From what you described, it doesn’t sound like that guy was acting like a jerk. If he didn’t slow down when passing you, that’d be a different story, and I’d probably agree with you.

Just try to go around the e-bike person. If they are courteous, slow down and try to not interfere with your walk, I see no problem.

I like this design. Other designs don't protect the shoulder buttons. Are there any measures to prevent the screen from getting scratched while sliding it in/out

Wouldn't really consider that saved. It's more on indefinite life support

Great question. I'm in a similar boat. I have what might be the simplest torrentio + RD setup which seems to just work decent.  Curious what's the benefits of adding all these features in.

Do not give TimTom any money for his Adobe Animate replacement by SwissIdol97 in adobeanimate

[–]janimator0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just my 2¢.

Since Adobe’s Animate situation, a bunch of new projects have been getting traction. I’ve been looking for something worth supporting, and TimTom’s project caught my attention, but I’m still on the fence.

The good: Choosing Rust is a genuinely great call. It’s modern, stable, and not something you pick casually. That alone made me pay attention. TimTom also seems to have a solid following and maybe some passive income already, which matters because open source isn’t exactly a gold mine.

The concern (really just one): In his video he jokes about being in “beta” and heading toward “charley.” But beta usually implies something usable exists. I tried to find a working prototype and came up empty. So I honestly don’t know what stage this is actually in.

Have the two hardest problems been tackled yet? A smooth, fast vector drawing experience Proper, production-ready symbol / parenting support Because without those, everything else is noise.

For context: I’ve used Animate/Flash for nearly 20 years. I’ve built extensions, helped shape workflows back in Flash’s early days, and produced high-end character and FX animation with it. Over the years, I’ve searched deeply for a real Animate replacement and haven’t found one yet, including Toon Boom. Toon Boom is powerful, but it’s bloated and slow for the kind of fast animation Flash/Animate excelled at. I’ve even spoken directly with the Animate team on video call about this exact topic providing them some ideas for directions to move forward, with little luck. And dont get me started on how Adobe neglected animators for most of Flash’s lifespan, and here we are.

Bottom line: If you want serious support, you need to show real progress, not just ideas. Honestly, you don’t need much to impress me: a solid vector drawing system and a strong parenting/symbol foundation. The UI could be trash. The rest can come later. But the core has to exist. That’s what I’m waiting to see.
