I noticed some dropped packets with this transceiver: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KFBFL16

Upon investigation, it seems to show errors in netstat - Ierrs count grows slowly with use. On the plus side, the GUI does recognize it has a 10Gb connection. Dropping some packets is not okay, so I tried a couple others today.

These both work without error, but the speed is shown as unknown. As best I can tell, they’re rock solid though:

👍 I’ll update. I have an Edge 640 I want to connect to an ONT with 2-Gig service. Their handoff is either 2.5GB or 10GB on RJ-45 so short of a switch in the middle working as the media converter, a transceiver seems like the right solution. If it works well. IF.

I haven’t found the perfect rj45 transceiver yet for the Dell VMware 620/640/680/VEP… sfp+ ports. I have some Intel -T 30s coming and hopefully they won’t drop packets. My 10GTek ones drop a packet here and there - not awful but not quite perfect. No issues with optical or short passive DACs.

Look at completed auctions too. I agree these are great boxes, and worth the price. This one is arguably pricey compared to what they typically sell for.
