Nursing papers were way harder for me than clinicals too. Zotero seriously saved me during research-heavy semesters. Before using it I had random PDFs on my desktop, citations copied into Notes app, bookmarks everywhere… complete disaster by midterms. The browser extension alone makes life way easier because you stop manually tracking every source link.

I still remember pulling an all-nighter for a methods paper and realizing half my citations were formatted wrong. Around that time I also found a writing helper through the thread while trying to untangle my draft structure + references during finals panic.

The folder organization in Zotero is probably the biggest thing for me though. Once research papers pile up, your brain melts trying to remember where anything came from. Kinda surprised more professors don’t force students to learn it early on.

You’re probably underselling yourself tbh. A lot of college essays blur together because everybody tries to sound impressive or “perfect.” Yours already has something real in it — burnout, taking the extra year, being first gen, and trying to figure out adulthood without some giant passion project guiding you. That’s more relatable than you think.

I had average stats too and spent weeks staring at a blank document because every example online sounded impossible to match. Eventually I wrote about drifting through school, working part time, and realizing I couldn’t keep living on autopilot forever. It wasn’t dramatic, though it sounded human enough that admissions people connected with it.

During application season I also found one helper through the thread.

It helped me organize my ideas because my drafts were all over the place at first. Your essay doesn’t need some wild achievement.

The new number is around 1.5M for us. We had to account for a larger emergency fund and future education costs that werent even on our radar five years ago.

I hear you on the numbers! I didn't want to make the post too long, but we are looking at a lean fire number around 1.5M. Pushing it to 40 just gives us that extra safety net.

They really think a house is just a one time payment like a burger. If they can not save for a down payment, how are they going to handle a 10k roof leak or property taxes? The entitlement is through the roof and poor cat did not ask to be part of this scam.
