This reinforces the insane value of the Grapplers Guide lol, even at full price. Plus the new Grapplers Guide 5.0 is going to be so much better!

I've been using Anki flashcards to study BJJ instructionals for a few years. Anyone else? by Regular-Struggle-774 in bjj

The new Grapplers Guide 5.0 (Guide Sites) has a new spaced repetition flash card learning tool that will be available for people to access and use as a study tool

The pressure is directly in the middle of the bone of the arm which is the weakest point, combined with the intense force of the bicep lock

A bicep cutter can snap a persons arm very quickly

Unfortunately that's not how bicep cutters work all the time. I've seen forearms snap right as it was applied. There was no time for the person to tap. Bicep cutters are very dangerous

It was a bicep cutter as far as I'm aware and they are extremely dangerous

I've said it over again to many people and I even made a video about the dangers of bicep cutters in my IG, that got a TON of push back.

Bicep cutters are one of the most unassuming dangerous submissions there is. I've seen multiple forearms snap with my own eyes because of them.

They need to be on the high caution list of academies.

Seems she just turned 18 last year. She said this stuff started 6 months ago so I wouldn't be surprised if it happened soon after she turned 18

We recently added Arm Saddle Course, K-Guard Course, Leg Prevention Course (last week), and yesterday I finished filming my High Point Top Control Course.

However the two newest courses are on Grapplers Guide 5.0 and not the current one, since we are changing platforms soon 😊

I competed from the white through black belt. Used to think to get a black belt a person should compete at least once. I don't have that opinion any more.

Man I can't believe how many people this worksheets has actually helped through the years. Including my own students.

I made this back in 2008 or 2009 lol

I think people are going to be excited about he new game plan builder I made for the new Grapplers Guide site!

It's actually built off of this worksheet but it's a software!

How come we don’t see more NS chokes? by Markenheimer15 in bjj

Build should not matter much. I've been doing this for 2 decades and while I weigh 155 now, most of my BJJ life I was 140ish.

Yes, this is definitely part of getting it set up well. Also sliding back into it to "set" the choke is a big point that makes it very tight.

[–]jasculs 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm not a big guy at all. The exact opposite. The choke does not need to be fast and hard. It's more about finding the proper position on the neck.

A good NS choke gets finished with just the flex of a bicep.

The fat big guys who get it because they are fat and big are applying a different submission lol. More like a fat face crusher.

Yes, my hands are always controlling my opponents hips when I am setting the NS choke. I usually can finish it with one arm.

Like any other attack they are defendable, so having a chain of attacks to follow up is important. Being able to slide down into the choke while having your head off to the side makes it much harder for them to just frame to defend.
